So you're one of those miserable people that get off on others being miserable as well?

Pathetic :snoop:

I don't want you to be miserable man, in fact I wish you the opposite.

I'm just saying you should keep the unimportant details of your life to yourself. It was a $9 an hour job, its not serious.

This just seems like an attention whoring thread where you pulled the bait and switch.

Here we go with this shyt again :heh:
When I say "start a business", I'm not telling him to go out try to build his own Walmart. But asking if you can cut someone's grass or run errands for older folks, cleaning, or providing some kind of good or service to someone in exchange for money is a business. It's a whole lot easier than competing for jobs that millions of others are looking for. You have to create your own opportunities in this world.

why u tell him u were planning on quitting???
dumb move. cuz if you wanted to claim unemployment you just blew it.
technically you werent fired.... u were "laid off" and thats the best thing ever to get your $$$ :krs:
but you done fukked it up by telling him you were PLANNING on quitting. :snoop:
so when they ask him "what happened?" hes gonna say, well he was planning to quit so i let him go, instead of, I let him go bc i needed a better person (which equals LAID OFF)
being fired meant you did something wrong.
u didnt do anything wrong.
u were laid off.

imagine all the $$ u just lost. :dahell:

Unemployment is some bullshyt. It already pays less than what you were making and on top of that if you earn extra income, they take that amount away. I'd rather have the freedom to make as much as I want. and yeah I know you can always lie and say you didn't make any money, but I'd rather put my efforts into making more money than getting over on a broken system. There is no challenge in that.

People love to do nothing for "free" money and then wonder they can't fathom anymore making more than $9 an hour.

Unemployment is supposed to help you, not support you. :manny:
and it goes by the quarter where you made the most money. Of course if you get more hours in a work week while on unemployment they will take away frm your benefit, but honestly some people need the monetary help. especially if they cant honestly find work full time in a week. Unemployment sux if you built it up on minimum wage cuz your benefit will be low weekly, but for those who made gwap working, you can be looking at maybe $1000 or a little less a week depending if you were "laid off".....
and one would only fathom making $9 an hour if they never got a taste of high hourly wages and had no skills to get a better paying job. :manny:
$9 is still more than minimum wage in the states. so for some, $9 isnt that bad if you have a low overhead and work 40 hours a week. Thats about $1440 a mnth b4 taxes and for a single person living in a house where rent is only $600 and the bills are low, thats not bad for average america....
add some roommates or a spouse to that mix and $9 dont seem so bad if you cant find or aren't entitled to a better job.

No one can live on 2/3's less income, it doesn't matter if they are getting $1000 a week or less than that. Unemployment is 2/3 less income for doing nothing but with a little work you can make the same income from the job you left or even more. That "help" limits you.

Its based on the quarter you made the most money. So you can either get $50 a week or $800 a week depending on your situation.... and yes, everyone has a different situation, especially if you been paying taxes for many years at a good job that you're not at anymore......
if you cant honestly find a job it does help a person. its just really hard to get the FULL benefit you are entitled to.
I think you're hating on something that you pay into but can help you regardless of the amount.
money is money. :manny:
and for some who are lazy and dishonest, itll enable those traits BUT, for some it actually helps in a honest way if you need the help monetarily Retta. :manny:

I was out of work two summers ago now and I was working a part time job during that time. Anything I made over $100 in a week, was taken from the amount I received in unemployement. If I'm already making 2/3's less money, wouldn't it make sense for me to NEED every cent of my income? Luckily my boss paid me under the table when I took on extra hours but if I had recorded that money, I would have been screwed.

I feel that since I pay into unemployment, then they should allow me x amount for x number of weeks or until I secure full-time employment again. I'm not saying that it doen't help people. My thing is that it's not as much "help" as it could be for people actually trying to get on their feet. If I were in the same situation again, I'd just rather do some side hustles and make my money that way than to deal with that.
