I'm jealous...

I heard a rumor he passed away like 5 years ago until someone found him on FB & he was alive & well...

He used to get fined every paycheck for teaching Black History every Friday when I had him for Social Studies...

That real world knowledge he exposed us to at such an early age... didnt appreciate it at the time but as I got older I witnessed everything he used to preach about. I've been "woke" since 6th Grade...

Need more teachers like him...

OP why don't you try tutoring? Just throw together a decent looking website, add some fake reviews and make a few posts on CL, FB etc. It likely pays more than substitute teaching role anyway, no? Of course they laughed. They're middle school kids. That was my 2nd time teaching at that school because they asked me to come back because the students and the faculty loved me that much. Like some one said in here earlier, I got too comfortable.

The need to ask a child if she's mixed was unnecessary and could've made the child feel uncomfortable.... and the White Plains joke was the kicker... Just unnecessary... Not even funny in a learning environment.

I see now. I'm just glad I experienced this before actually being employed as a full time teacher. Its good wisdom. Now I know what I can and can't do.

Maybe you shouldn't teach. It takes quick thinking and adaptability to thrive as an educator today. You may not make the same mistake twice, but you also can't keep making mistakes.

Last Friday, I was working a school and the teacher left a video for the classes to watch about MLK Jr and the Selma marches. There was a scene in there about the KKK and the students stopped and asked me what exactly they stood for. So I explained to them what the KKK was and why they were established and I even said "some of your family members/ancestors where probably apart of the organization."

It was a majority white class with a few minorities in there: Black, Mexican, Asian. I didn't even get reported for that comment. I even looked back on that and thought, I probably shouldn't have said that".

That was far worse than what I was actually fired for.

Meanwhile a similar situation a white school counselor was told by a young black student a girl said she would try to fight her after school the school counselor shrugged it off. The fight ends up happening the young black girl explains she told the proper authority and they ignored it, they went on code quick said the little girl didn't properly word it and questioned the mom about her intentions, white supremacy likes to play stupid when it comes to us and our children but are deadly serious when its their kids.

Oh i should add they put the black girl in alternative school because she fought back lmao i forget how many days but basically the remaining school year
