They changed the endings breh, but slightly... and this was after people complained. I'm not saying he shouldn't die... but only if its the only option since you played a certain way, personally I feel if you make bad fukked up choices don't do any side stories etc, you shouldn't even make it to the last battle.
mass effect 3 was great fukk what the stan boys tell you, the ending wasnt the greatest but i didnt feel robbed after i watched it, i was satisfied with the final product.
these nikkas expected a 3 hour movie explaining each and every choice, small or big, and the fate of every character you ever came across, spanning all three games
look how nikkas is in here talking bout just play the multi, like the ending really was bad enough to make a 30 hour game with great gameplay and story(regardless if the ending was game of thrones deep or not, the story was still good) irrelevant.

and the extended ending did in fact make the ending atleast good

breh, i knew they couldnt end this with shepard still alive, i knew this after beating the second game. after the ending to mass effect 2, i fully expected the final showdown to be a suicide mission, only difference is i expected whoever you took with you to die with you also

if you were pretty much just playing Mass Effect for the story that ending basically ruined your experience. what you're saying about gameplay is irrelevant to those that were in it for the story. these people were sold this whole its your story and choice matters and told they'd see their choices played out on this grand scale and told their choices would determine the ending. what they got was minor variations between different playthroughs and an ending that shoehorned everything into 3 generic conclusions that didn't even really differ that much. just some different color explosions.
what you call great store in 3 is an idiot plot where all races come together to build a device they don't even understand created by races that didn't even understand what they were fighting or how to really combat it and didn't know what the device they were building was even gonna do. they basically pulled the plot of this game outta their asses.

That wasn't the OG ending. That wasn't even the OG plot. The game was supposed to include the dark matter shyt from "ME2", which tied into the Reaper story line.
The OG ending was supposed to be kinda like the suicide run, but across the entire galaxy. You'd pick what teams and races attacked where, some would die, some would live, etc.
They scrapped that shyt for that little boy and 3 different colored choices which are basically the same.
If you like the ending cool but I don't see how anyone in their right mind would rather have the ending we got, instead of what they intended.

like i said the gameplay of 3 was nice but the whole plot and ending were a mess. you can tell they handed this series off to someone who took it in an entirely different direction than it was intended to go.
whole concepts such as the reapers themselves were retconned between some of the games. the reapers they pitched in Mass Effect that were supposedly too complicated to understand were not the reapers in 3 that were stored races in machine form that were tools to prevent synthetics from destroying organics something the game even contradicts all the while telling you its inevitable.

To me the ending was whatever...it didn't crush my world like all the other gamers screaming foul demanding changes. I loved the series and the story and I moved on. It was great for what it was. My main problem with all of this was the fallout from the ending.
Passionate or not it was the worst response by fans that I've ever seen in the history of gaming. Morons sending death theats to Bioware. Numerous internet petitions to demand a change to the ending. Dude actually filing an FTC complaint. For a while I was ashamed to even say I was a fan of the series so I wouldnt' even be associated with whiners.

you musta miss the part where i said the story was still good regardless of the gameplay.
i dont play rpgs just for gameplay breh, and no that ending did NOT ruin the experience, if nikkas was just saying the ending didnt live up to the hype then id understand, but you nikkas act like this game isnt worth playing, ALL CAUSE OF A fukkING ENDING.
and the ending wasnt just a bunch of different explosions, each ending shaped the universe future differently.
so lets try this again for you.i enjoyed mass effect, INCLUDING THE STORY FOR YOU SLOW MUTHAfukkER. and a mediocre ending cant and wont change that for me or anyone else that wants to give this series a shot.
and by the way, even tho i was disappointed with how they didnt explain the ending better, the extended cut fixed that and i was more than happy with the new explanation, and you should be too
its not that i think the ending was good, its just that i hate how nikkas act like the game was terrible cause of it, shyt is still a groundbreaking 30 hour experience
edit: and the extended cut did make the ending we did get more than tolerable, although if what you say is true, that woulda been a hell of alot better
