If you have Windows 8,
Now is your free chance to get Media Center pack for free!
Media Center does not come free with the new OS like previous versions.
Microsoft is now giving out free keys for a short time to add the Media Center feature to Windows 8.

Add features - Microsoft Windows

The problems of Window 8
Installing Windows 8 through Apple's Bootcamp was a breeze.
Not having the updated drivers for it is a pain.
Since Windows 8 is new, there are no updated drivers released yet for Bootcamp.
My sound does not work,
The screen brightness is way to low and unseeable and cannot be fixed yet.
Trackpad and Magic Mouse Gestures do not work.

Install through virtualbox and you shouldn't have those problems....open source for all homie:

I do not like to use virtual box.
I prefer Bootcamp.
The problem I realized was that I thought the drivers carried over from the upgrade to Win 7-8, it did not.
So, I popped in my Bootcamp driver disc and all is well.
The volume, brightness and gestures work well now.

I wish that Windows 8 would let me use my key and install the OS on multiple laptop and desktop like Windows 7 did.

I haven't used bootcamp since they debuted it back in the day....does it still dual boot your computer?

I can't really do dual boots/triple boots anymore...whenever im using multiple OS's(use it for work to cross browser check my coding in windows xp ie7/ie8 and to use terminal in Ubuntu) i like to have them running at the same time on different monitors.

I agree,
Metro UI is the future.
I can see fantastic new upgrades for the UI coming from Microsoft and other major companies and as well from the hacking/Modding communities.

I wish they would have spent a little more time refining the desktop and file explorer....why do we still have the same icons as XP and not based off the Metro brand guidelines? I spent like a whole day swapping out icons from Icon Sets by dAKirby309 - SoftIcons.com

My guess for the people who are use to the traditional style of Windows,
And to make people comfortable by bringing back familiarity.
If it was up to me, there would be no Desktop mode,
Strictly Metro UI.
I cannot wait until Adobe and other companies update their apps strictly to Metro UI,
That's where it's heading too anyway.

I dont know breh...I really dislike apple's use of skeuomorphism, i think it's really tacky and degrades all their OS's UI. I was using Ubuntu almost exclusively (with windows in a virtual box so i could run Adobe's Creative Suite)...but once Windows came back with this redesign(no gradients and a move to flat colors and clean/minimal design) I decided to make it my fulltime OS and have ubuntu in a virtualbox and use it only when i need to SSH or use terminal for something.

Hopefully Jonathan Ives takes the reign at Apple in the UI department, now that their main Interface design guy left. Maybe their UI will match the beauty of the hardware. I use a 8gb i5 27" iMac at work and my laptop is Windows 8.

I can't get jiggy with that on my multi monitor setup...when I work (web design/programming/developing) I have firefox, chrome and ie open and browser checking all of them constantly, using the developer tools in each, have photoshop and ai open in another monitor and then have my code editor running on my third monitor...

I do responsive design, so its imperative i be able to resize the web browsers to 1024 x 768, 768 x 1024, 480 x 320, 320 x 480

I agree,
but more than likely they will update their applications fitted for Desktop and Metro UI. I'm more intrigued to see how they are going to pull off the Metro aspect of it though.
A fellow Graphic Designer aye?
Salutes bro!

:salute:

im more into programming and UI now though, specialize in: responsive design, dynamic jQuery and css3 and have a good working knowledge of php, but am not a jedi master yet
