For some reason the song jumped into my head like 20 minutes ago, And I went to check out how huge of a hit it was. It was the third biggest song in America the year it released and went 2x platinum(single)

But the interesting thing that caught me was the list of samples it contained.

"Jump" uses samples of "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5, "Funky Worm" by Ohio Players, "Impeach the President" by The Honey Drippers, "Midnight Theme" by Manzel, "Escape-Ism" by James Brown, "Saturday Night" by Schoolly D, and a replay of "O.P.P." by Naughty by Nature."

That's crazy.

Jermaine Dupri was digging in the crates for that joint

He dug in all the damn crates. I wonder what them royalty checks looked like. Upon listening to the song the only song I clearly hear is "I wan't you back" but I'm not familiar with the other joints so..

hmm this was released right after the Biz case. Interesting they used this many samples... but yeah Kriss Kross probably got pennies off this record

this was after the Biz case .. but this is when these artists started giving different producers/artists preferential treatment.

I remember Curtis Mayfield (I think it was Curtis) was like anybody could sample him .. his fee is 10000

others had demands like no cursing and etc.

It was all good till they dropped that wack album. With Jump, for a second, they had us fooled into believing they were bad ass kids. Illegal would fill that 'bad ass kids' void a year later.

But that album was straight to me. I still know the first verse to I Missed the Bus:wow:

They really wasn't on no tough shyt with Jump. nikkas was talking about being lovable huggable type of guys lol. But they image was a little tougher than they was with some of the lyrics, but it wasn't really nothing too crazy. JD was writing that shyt anyway. They definitely ain't want no beef with Illegal or Da Youngstas:russ:
