I learned to make beats thru my own live instrumentation but sampling brings a special vibe too

Nikkas get lazy n just throw on a filter n call it a day.

I do like Havoc and make the shyt unrecognizable.....i'll reverse the damn loop...throw hella phasers n flangers on it. Put so much fukkin reverb on it....you dnt kno wtf it is....also not loopin the most recognizable part too. Grab 5 seconds of a random part that a mfker cant place right away

Also ppl who sample major or well known artists are just fukkin dumb

I tend to sample a lot of old shyt from Brazil, Africa n Asia....lessens the chance of getting litigated

Also avoid sampling the first 10 seconds of song if you can. Not unless the loop is dope then you gotta lol. But here i flipped the exorcist theme in this video and you probably couldnt tell that i even sampled it.

And here i used that reverse technique on "footsteps in the dark' by the isley brothers.

I agree. For ppl who like this song, what do you like about it ? The lyrics? The beat? What?
The song is for the kids...

That moody, depressed, drugged out, heartbreak shyt is in with these youngns..

My brother was bumping this song months ago...and that whiny lil peep shyt :francis:

What about if you're sampling just to make beats and don't plan on selling?

The original artist could still have soundcloud pull my shyt right?

Nope unless your planning on selling but to be honest the original artist will not sue you unless it’s a mass produced composition(or making a big chunk of money). If you sell your beats to be put on a indie or underground project you will be fine.

Yea...sometimes the inspiration be there so i don't change much..but I will still start challenging myself to make beats where a sample won't be noticed.

I find chopping up samples to be a challenge..

When I first started I would play the original sample and then play my version just to show off how I flipped it.

When I hear a sample i will tend flip it at least 3 different ways. Nothing wrong with finding a dope loop and layering it with chords and effects. Trust your ear if it bangs it bangs!!!

Sting literally made his career pretending (poorly) to be a reggae singer. Turns around and sues. Like Led Zeppelin suing people for sampling their rip-offs of blues.
:snoop:

Music industry is a fukking cesspit
Blues musicians and Reggae artists should get to sue the everloving shyt out of Robert Plant and Sting for not just stealing, but totally butchering their music.

At least hip-hop takes aspects of their white bread pop :trash: and turns it into something palatable.

Take blank shoe... make the hottest design in the world on it... mass produce it... sell millions....

But you forget you put 3 Nike checks on every shoe.... Now try and negotiate with them after the fact and see what happens
