Harriet Tubman is not more significant than Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King Jr., or Malcolm X. What's being argued here is valid. Why is it that with every other race men are portrayed as the leaders but with black people now we suddenly are being led by women?

Everyone knows that men should lead the way. If women are leading your group, then you're headed nowhere. This is nothing more than a white agenda to make sure black people always stay second class and never rise up. They know they have to keep black men down to keep us down as a collective. If the men in your race are not even capable of leading their women then how can they lead in anything else.

I'm all for Harriet Tubman on a bill after we get about 2-3 black men on there first.

You could argue she wasnt more significant because she was a woman. Not to mention her movement wasnt televised for obvious reasons. I respect Harriet too much to say what he's saying. Plus i could care less about black people being put on money that is used to trap our minds and fund our oppression.

Black men being petty and jealous of black women for succeeding is weak as fukk and embarrassing.

Black men question: if society is holding you down as it is, what is the solution? Putting down black women is not going to help you at all when you know you will need us to be at your side at our very best. So stop with blaming us about your condition because we certainly did not cause it.

What yall dont realize is cacs push Harriet Tubman so you can't talk about people like Nat Turner.

But you just showed that it was possible.

Harriet Tubman
Nat Turner

Oh shyt, now I’m doing it too.

Better be careful or the cacs will come and stop us.

It is possible to do 2 things at once. It is possible to value women and men at the same time. Don’t be a real life color purple character.

So what is this asking of me?

To be mad that black women are getting degrees, getting educated and chasing success? To be upset that a black woman is going to be put on legal tender?

And they want me to be mad about these things as a Black man?

Sounds like the kind of shyt that racist cacs would be mad about, but this shyt dont sound nothing but good to me. Im happy for black women, they continue to be the best thing walking and this nikka can take that shyt and shove it up his ass. :yeshrug:

:hubie: No disrespect but i think black men have better things to worry about.

I too find it suspect that she was chosen. That's white people tryna start shyt. What year did that happen? Was it in the middle of the gender wars? :mjpls:

Thank God, at least one woman sees this shyt for what it was.

Now, I didn't like how the Judge was carrying on about it and sounding all pissed off like they were gonna put Stacy Dash on that shyt. There was no need to belittle her accomplishments or say she wouldn't get lynched and all that shyt cuz she wasn't a threat. Dude took it too far with all that. He could have made his point without all that extra shyt. You can be right, without tearing down our heroes.

This was one of those things, that you might call out real quick to let people be aware of the fukkery, but then you move on.

Agreed, there's too much shyt going on to dwell on this. He too old to not know these cac games.

Above the fray.
Letter from 2016 by Obama's Sec. of Treasury announcing Harriet Tubman being placed on U.S. currency

April 20, 2016

When I announced last June that a newly redesigned $10 note would feature a woman, I hoped to encourage a national conversation about women in our democracy. The response has been powerful. You and your fellow citizens from across the country have made your voices heard through town hall discussions and roundtable conversations, and with more than a million responses via mail and email, and through handwritten notes, tweets, and social media posts. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful and impassioned feedback.

Over the course of the last 10 months, you put forth hundreds of names of people who have played a pivotal role in our nation’s history. Many of you proposed that our new currency highlight democracy in action and reflect the diversity of our great nation. Some of you suggested we skip the redesign of the $10 note, which is the next in line for a security upgrade, and move immediately to redesigning the $20 note. And others proposed unconventional ideas, such as creating a $25 bill.

I have been inspired by this conversation and today I am excited to announce that for the first time in more than a century, the front of our currency will feature the portrait of a woman — Harriet Tubman on the $20 note.

Since we began this process, we have heard overwhelming encouragement from Americans to look at notes beyond the $10. Based on this input, I have directed the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to accelerate plans for the redesign of the $20, $10, and $5 notes. We already have begun work on initial concepts for each note, which will continue this year. We anticipate that final concept designs for the new $20, $10, and $5 notes will all be unveiled in 2020 in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote.

The decision to put Harriet Tubman on the new $20 was driven by thousands of responses we received from Americans young and old. I have been particularly struck by the many comments and reactions from children for whom Harriet Tubman is not just a historical figure, but a role model for leadership and participation in our democracy. You shared your thoughts about her life and her works and how they changed our nation and represented our most cherished values.

Looking back on her life, Tubman once said, “I would fight for liberty so long as my strength lasted.” And she did fight, for the freedom of slaves and for the right of women to vote. Her incredible story of courage and commitment to equality embodies the ideals of democracy that our nation celebrates, and we will continue to value her legacy by honoring her on our currency. The reverse of the new $20 will continue to feature the White House as well as an image of President Andrew Jackson
