The jrpg that sparked jrpgs being "popular" in America is dropping beginning of next year.
Arguably one of the biggest jrpgs ever and most anticipated and requested remakes ever....
Also dragon quest 11 made a big splash on switch this year and a "deluxe" version of Persona 5 has people hype.
Jrpgs are definitely fine.

Yeah we got a new Japanese dude at work and that nikka came in looking like Noctis from FFXV.

Witcher 3 killed the JRPG
No it didn't for the most part JRPGs have never been super popular. You get a few commercial successes like Final Fantasy but most of them have always done modest sales.
What really hurt JRPGs is the demise of console gaming in Japan.
