No one considers him good anymore

It wasn't a question of doing everything differently, although they changed the ending; it was mostly a matter of doing everything wrong. They said the lines...mostly...but they said them all wrong. And they cast it wrong. And they designed it wrong. And they scored it wrong. They did everything wrong that they could possibly do. There's actually a fascinating lesson in filmmaking, because everything that they did reflects back to the script or looks like something from the script, and people assume that, if I hated it, then theyd changed the script...but it wasnt so much that theyd changed the script; its that they just executed it in such a ghastly fashion as to render it almost unwatchable.
Sometimes I think I'm the only one on the internet who thinks he's massively overrated writer. He did write Toy Story (with 7 other people)
crazy how your movie can make over a billion dollars and your over rated.
If Whedon is over rated then so is Nolan.
Nolan has his problems too. Melodramatic. Action while visually nice, doesn't always make sense, his coverage is poor, also could be an editing problem.
But Nolan >>>>> Whedon. All day.
Sometimes I think I'm the only one on the internet who thinks he's massively overrated writer. He did write Toy Story (with 7 other people) but c'mon Buffy and Angel aren't that great and everything he's done is like an incarnation of that. He writes those same type of characters into everything, and they all talk the same--and it's weird. Having him also directing The Avengers is a huge "fukk you" to so many talented directors. Alien Resurrection wasnt fukked by Jeunet, it was fukked because it wasnt needed and because of its woefully derivative paint by numbers cardboard poseidon-esque story and script. It didnt really even tell a story, it just existed for the sake of existing. I give credit to the actors who had to deliver the garbage that was written, and to Jeunet for at least adding some style to the proceedings.
Smells like sour grapes to me. MY SCRIPT WAS AWESOME AND THEY fukkED IT UP....no they didnt really change much...THEY JUST fukkED IT UP!
I'm not saying the film doesnt have issues aside from the script, it clearly does, and of course a good script can be destroyed in the process of filming. I'd actually like to see whedon remake it using the same script, his script, to see just how wonderful it really should have been but that's not going to happen.

I get that most of his reverence is due to the fact that he knows geek culture. But the man is a fukking hack. His dialogue sucks. It's cringe-worthy. The back and forth banter between the characters in The Avengers had me embarrassed that I paid $10.50 to watch the movie.
What I mean is that it's strange that he got the job in the first place, the movie is was ok-good. Think about it for a sec. His only feature film is from 2005, a box office bomb and was continuation of a one season sci-fi show and since then he has directed 3 ep. of Dollhouse, 2 ep. of The Office and a Glee show. It kinda obvious he got the job because of his geek status and I don't think that's reaching. But at the end of the day it's about making money and for a studio to give $220 millions to a man that has created 4 tv shows none of which have been in the top 100 most watched shows in the US and a movie that made no money is weird.
But did really well so, whatever. Would really call it critically successful, at least not in the terms of money it made. 8,3 on imdb and 69 on metacritic.
I thought avengers was a corny movie with very good actors. just cliches on top of one another tbh.So u just gonna leave out avengers huh?
We gonna pretend that movie doesnt exist?
