The public wouldn't know any better.

The-Coli != public

Comic book geeks != public

The majority of the people on the internet who do more than Facebook, YouTube etc != public

Most people are casual fans of these characters.

People know that The Hulk is big green and angry. If you threw in some intelligence hardly anyone would notice.

Not some they are making him a scientist with Bruce Banner's mind. i dunno seeing the Hulk in a huge lab coat talking all intelligent might come off a bit campy/corny.

me either. didn't like the ang lee or the one with ed norton. I mean ang lee has 2 oscars and he couldn't make the movie piff. it probably ain't meant to be.

Because Ang Lee made the wrong type of movie. Even he's admitted that he fukked that movie up.

The problem with Hulk movies are that these dumb asses treat the Hulk as nothing more than a monster and overplay the psychodrama and horror elements.

Whedon went about it better than anyone else. He hinted at "The other guy" through much of the film, and the initial appearance invoked fear and apprehension, but everything after that initial moment was pure unadulterated FUN and action. They were smart enough to actually give the Hulk some character beyond roaring monster.

If you really want to cite the biggest problem with the Hulk films it's that the Hulk is treated as a minor character.

:ahh: Whedon even thinks like me.

What Whedon's getting at is that Hulk is too complex.

Banner = shyt when people only want to see the Hulk. He's fluctuated between being a wormish nerd to being the mad scientist over the course of Hulk's history. He's a hard character to sell IMO. :manny:

Then there's Hulk. He's not an retard, acts like one... Not evil, causes billions in damage regularly... He's wants to be left alone but goes out of his way to go Godzilla (a monster who fights monsters for Humanity)

All the auidence wants to see it Hulk smash and fukkery his presence brings. A tornado by itself is lame but in New York City surrounded by Superheroes is :blessed:

This though I thought that Hulk with Ed Norton was pretty good.

i remember from the comics back when the Hulk was Grey, there was a time when Bruce would talk with the Green Hulk in his subconscious while the Grey Hulk controlled the body and they came to an agreement that they would share the body and therefore have the best of both worlds by combining their individual existences and then they brought the Gray Hulk in on the deal and then we got the Hulk i remember as being the last incarnation...smart as Bruce, strong and invincible as the Green, and the attitude of the Gray.

i think that would make a good movie right there.

I never cared for the versions of Hulk that were as smart as Bruce.

I prefer a version that close to the Joe fixit/Green Scar type. A Hulk who is clever, talks shyt, has obvious disdain for Bruce, isn't a super genius, and is INCREDIBLY strong.

If they give people the version of the Hulk that showed up in World War Hulk: X-Men he'd probably surpass Spider-Man in popularity.

He was an a$$hole so they told him to kick rocks.

Norton is notorious for being difficult to work with in addition to wanting large paychecks. Marvel wasn't having that so they got rid of him.

Marvel gives no fukks when it comes to negotiating.

Norton got thrown in the bushes for being too controlling.

They fired the guy that was supposed to play Fandral in Thor after a couple of weeks.

Natalie Portman tried to push for a particular director and they told her to shut the fukk up and do her job.

The most fukked up example though is Terrance Howard. Howard was the FIRST person to sign on for Iron Man and was the guy who suggested they get Robert Downy Jr...Because Howard was the first guy to sign on (and because he was fresh off an Oscar nomination) he was also the guy who got paid the most. Marvel asked him to take a paycut, he said no, they replaced him.

Hulk Is “Most Difficult Marvel Property”: Whedon

I think Whedon is under the misconception that the Hulk is just a mindless, barely literate brute and has not ever read any of the books where Hulk had Banner's intelligence.
Now I understand Ruffalo as an actor not wanting to be in a movie where he is never actually on screen but honestly who really cares about who is playing Bruce Banner? Banner wasn't the stand-out in The Avengers it was the way the Hulk was shown interacting with the other characters in the film.
A World War Hulk or even Planet Hulk movie would be awesome and I would not give a damn if Banner showed up at all. And if Ruffalo wouldn't want to do it I am sure there are a number of dudes who would take the gig and do well...I mean have they never heard of Andy Serkis? Dude was so good in that Planet of the Apes movie that it had people seriously mentioning his performance as possibly be Oscar worthy.

The majority of directors and writers are just plain lazy.

Power wise Hulk is already unbalanced in the flicks. Dude struggling against the Military in relaunch.

But in Avengers dude is leaping buildings like Lara Croft and running through Aliens on some contra shyt.

:noah:now you have me thinking about a contra movie that will never happen, damn it

They already made movies for that they're called Commando and Predator.

As for Hulk being unbalanced there's that built in excuse of "The madder Hulk gets the stronger he is". The problem is they've never outright stated it in the films.

Then you got Ang Lee's dumb ass trying to twist it into Hulk physically becoming bigger all the time. Ang Lee's Hulk was about twice the size of Whedon's.
