This is a common oldhead mentality, especially back then. I'm sure he feels differently now.

Back in the day when everything was cash and it was much less digital and ID requirements, sure maybe.

Getting a job being homeless aint that easy.

Let alone getting a job and the trying to simply cash your check if you don't have your license

And being unkept isn't going to get you a job even at mc donalds, best you can hop for is someone letting you do janitorial work and paying you cash.

And even then you have a plan to save your money without getting jacked and a plan to try and get a low income apartment meaning your probably going to have to get some kind of phone then have transportation back and forth to whatever agency you need to visit as well as have your licenses and paperwork in hand.

Most of us take it for granted but actually losing everything and having to work your way back to the slums isn't something we have to deal with, even the poorest of us prob at worse grew up in section 8 and not under a bridge nor did we spend time sleeping in parking lots with no ID

Simplified statement to an often time nuanced situation. Very binary. Black and white.

Just because you can speak doesn't mean your life is in order. Or even have somewhere to stay.

Since socialism became cool a few years ago. You talk to millennials, and they think anyone who experienced any social mobility in life is lying. It’s frustrating and makes me fear for the future of the country, frankly.
No, they just know social mobility is the exception to the rule and not down to picking yourself up by your bootstraps :yeshrug:

Locker Room showing its true colors again :mjpls:

I hope someday a homeless man robs one of y'all clowns at gun/knifepoint and then maybe you guys will change your tune with that ole bootstrap talk...

Be careful, a homeless man takes an actual bootstrap, creeps up from behind and y'all know the rest. :sas2:

There are resources available. At this point(in major cities), with the exception of a few places, other than being mentally ill, you’re choosing to be on the street.
People who choose to be on the street are usually mentally ill :skip:

Absolutely 100% correct.

Can he get himself from a disheveled, rancid, homeless, unkempt person to a person who can pass a job interview, is the question.

Homeless cheat code- a thriftstore,a washcloth, clippers, razor, gas station sink to wash your balls and armpits in. They need about 30$ for most of those things. And they may want to start asking for these items along with money.

Seems like most homeless people think in survivor mode rather than solutions mode. Ive only been homeless during my childhood, but i can understand thinking that way i guess. They just dont want to be in the street that night,or are thinking about how they are going to eat all week.
