I read up on this a while ago. Cant remember all the details but there was this plausible theory that the parents were letting some man molest her and and he accidentally took it too far...let me see if i can find it

I have, what some would call a morbid interest in true crime, when I was about 14, asked for a book for Christmas 'The Cases That Haunt Us', by an FBI profiler, John Douglas, who started profiling/behavioral science (in criminal investigations) back in the 1980's, the character from Silence Of The Lambs, the FBI agent, was based on him.
So, I read it on Christmas Day, and I vividly remember the Jon Benet chapter,(have read many times since, well worn book on the shelf) the grotesque sense of irony not lost on the 14 year old me, as I read about her brutal murder and sexual assault....The book covers Jack The Ripper, Lizzie Borden, Zodiac, and what it does is from the behavioral clues, left by the suspect, analyzes who the killer likely is/was.....Douglas, wrote on the OJ Simpson murders too, but thats a different thread/topic.....
Anyone interested enough, I'd say buy the book, and you will have your answer, the short version is that the parents were not guilty of anything, nor was the brother. You have to really delve into the ugliness and brutality of the crime, as well as the analysis of that brutality.....This is one of those cases that got mishandled by the investigators, and the media coverage, but a little background on behavioral profiling and the crime, and it's clear what happened....that doesn't mean we will ever know who it was, but you will know who it wasn't.
That ransom note is a pretty important piece of evidence, in itself. Tells you a little about the offender...the most important thing is look at what actually happened to Jon Benet, awful as it is, and then go from there.
*Also, in MANY, possibly most, of domestic murders, of children, the parents or someone close to the family, are often the guilty party, this is not the case here.
When you use those profiling procedures, and behavioral science techniques, almost every crime is solvable to a degree.
And whatever you do, don't fall into CIA theories, or satanic rituals, or whatever bullshyt link that is....wow that is just frustratingly stupid.

It's crazy you mention her brother cuz that's something I just learned of recently, like literally last week. I think her parents did it. More specifically, her father was her "pimp" and her mother was just letting the shyt happen

Ramsey — a 6-year-old girl from Boulder, Colo. — was found strangled in the basement of her family home in 1996, but to this day, the case remains unsolved. For some reason, this has fueled speculation that the pre-teen beauty queen’s death was actually faked, and she instead grew up to be famed pop star Katy Perry.
A YouTube video of the conspiracy was posted back in December 2014 by Dave Johnson, but recently started getting attention.

“JonBenét Ramsey did not die, nobody died, nobody got hurt,” Johnson says in the video. "But she was sacrificed: That sacrifice was in name only, and that sacrifice was to get something, and that something was to become a star.”

“You're born with your eyebrows,” Jungle Surfer said. “They're very close, very close indeed, aren't they? … As you know, this whole entertainment industry is just a charade — you really don't know the truth.”
Johnson claims that Perry, 31, had been in hiding since the news of the murder case broke in 1996 until she rose to fame for her single “I Kissed a Girl” in 2008.
The singer was born on Oct. 25, 1984 as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson in Santa Barbara, California, while Ramsey was born on Dec. 25, 1990.
Twitter user Ryan Witalison was quick to point that the math doesn’t add up.

The theory comes on the heels of the Internet buzzing over whether or not presidential candidate Ted Cruz is in fact the Zodiac Killer.
“Ted Cruz is the Zodiac killer. Katy Perry is actually JonBenet Ramsey,” Twitter user Justin Prochaska wrote. “The Internet is teaching me so much.”

I don't think the molester meant to kill her. Maybe the little girl was resisting too much and he accidentally fractured her skull while trying to subdue her.
The duct tape, bound hands and ransom note were a cover up by the parents. They were protecting the brother, brother-in-law or somebody else in their circle. Wonder if the any of the family and friends' dna was tested.
