That's some real shyt. How can you have a title fight with Cormier(who just got his ass whipped by Jones) and Rumble and expect your champion to have any sort of legitimacy?

They should have just fined Jones and be done with it. I'm sure the cacs at Sherdog are :blessed: today, been waiting for years for Jones to lose the belt

I think if Rumble finishes Cormier, then the title looks somewhat legitimate, and it sets up a huge fight for when Jon Jones returns

but if Cormier wins (which i don't think he will) then you're right,

I'm not even trying to shyt on Rumble; I like him. I think he can even beat Jones. It's just that the stripping of the title was for PPV purposes(punishes Jones, still a LHW title fight at 187).

very true, it makes it easier to market this way.

and also they probably feel the need to distance themselvers from jones until he gets thing cleared up.

They can't just fine Jones and call it a day because of how it will make them look, especially because it involves a pregnant women imo

either way, even if Rumble wins this (which i think he will) i thin he won't be seen as the 'true' champ until he beats Jones

he shouldn't have his belt taken away so quickly like that:thumbsdown: he needs time off from fighting to get it together but ufc's handling of this is wrong so far. the only time i think a fighter has been stripped of his belt in boxing was andre ward and jermaine taylor and only because they were injured.

johnson will most likely ko DC

I'm shocked that you guys are surprised he got stripped.

The UFC has an image they're trying to cultivate, uphold, and protect.

Just like Reebok, it's all about branding

I get that but it's silly. If they wanted to send a message they should have cut him(they certainly have done that for much less egregious offenses).

Why would they cut him and allow a rival promotion to pick him up?

They're doing what they think is best for their business model

Looking at the top 10 rankings it's :scusthov:

1. Rumble
2. Gustaffson(Rumble just KTFO)
3. DC(lost lopsided decision to Jones last fight)
4. Suga(bad knee, out till 2016?, lost lopsided decision to Jones)
5. Bader(4 fight win streak, got choked out by Jones)
6. Glover(2 fight losing streak to Mr. Wonderful and... Jones)
7. OSP(lost to Bader recently)
8. Manuwa(KTFO by Gustaffson)
9. Shogun(:heh:)
10. Calvalcante

There's not a legit contender in that list outside of Rumble
