i wanna hate watch this now :mjlol:

im intrigued to know how bad this really is lol
truly believe this might be the worst mainstream superhero film ever made.
@hex anybody defending this atrocity needs to be banned from the film room indefinitely. that's how awful this film was.
To put it in perspective, I have liked all of the MCU tv shows (none of them have been bad imo). and thought iron man 2 was good.
still hated this

Going through the thread for a bit and I'm still unsure why people are rating it so poorly
Did y'all think he was going to be fighting Batman or something?
I saw it as clarifying that Arthur was just a man with mental illness and shouldn't be seen a martyr or a symbol of anarchy. People worshipped what they wanted him to be not knowing who the man underneath the makeup truly was. Arthur was never going to be the criminal that the comic Joker is. He was just a man that got pushed too far and killed some people. Harley is basically a stand-in for the people that thought otherwise.

It makes me the of the reason why Frank Herbert wrote Dune Messiah after the response to Dune
And we knew the direction it was going to take over two years ago and the musical numbers were basically how I predicted

Having musical numbers play in his head isn't off for the comic character either
Taking a serious grounded approach is what made the first film unique, imo.
:yeshrug:

This film aligns with what the first film actually was
I think it comes down to expectation. I couldn't see Arthur getting out and doing more than what he did in this first movie. He was a symbol for people to act looney than him being an actual agent of chaos. Like people hiding behind a Guy Fawkes mask and wrecking shyt.
That's my interpretation, at least. We all draw our own from what we watch
Come on, bruh. You can give a better answer than that.
Did you want more action? Big heist planning? More comic book like story?

Caught this yesterday and don’t regret it at all. It probably helped that I had super low expectations due to all the negative reviews. This shyt is getting unfairly hated on. The musical numbers aren’t as close to as bad as people are making them out to be and are all kept pretty short. It’s not like a La La Land or Westside Story where musical acts drag on for 10-15 minutes at a time. The ones on here were usually only a couple minutes long and made sense for the most part. They fit into the story perfectly fine. There were only a couple that seemed unnecessary but they were easy to overlook imo. I’m convinced most of the people hating on this didn’t even see it and just refuse to watch anything with the word “musical” attached to it. I would say about 70% of the movie is normal dialogue. I don’t even think you can technically call that a musical. I wasn’t looking forward to the 2 hour runtime but it actually went by pretty quick. In conclusion I would say definitely check it out if you enjoyed the first one. :yeshrug:

None of that has anything to do with the direction and success of the first movie
