Might be an unpopular opinion but I didn't think the first movie was all that great.

felt like a comedy director making his first drama. I also think Joaquin over acted a bit, basically his character from the Master (much better film, underrated in fact) turned up to 11. If the movie was just called "Arthur" it wouldn't have cracked 300m worldwide. A Joker who isn't a criminal mastermind is not the Joker, IMO.
