This is a solid movie but I'm biased and did not enjoy it. I dont like movies about the holocaust and slavery to be satire. I felt the same way about life is beautiful. It did not feel right.

Scarlett was great in this, the best I have seen her.

I reccomend watching it. It gets better in the second half when they tone down the comedy.
Don't know about that mate, her German accent was damn trash that shyt was French.

But then again every one had a trashy ass german accent:francis:.

Movie was trash as fukk though it's like it's was made for the 4-ch4n crowd i'e holocaust deniers.

This shyt was surprisingly good. Didn’t think I’d like it as much as I did. Loved every character for the most part. I thought scarlet was great. The little kid and his friend was pure comedy :mjlol: and I looooved how it ended. I nvr really fukked with taika movies before Ragnarok but he’s 2 for 2 for me now

Fascist satire never works and generally ends up as an endearment of fascism, i suppose because you simply can't satire such an inhumane ideology.

This movie though humanises nazis while shying away from their atrocities.

I definitely see this becoming another hit in the neo-nazi sphere like the Starship Troopers movie or warhammer40k.

I think it's very different satire than ST.

I agree with some of what you said. Satirizing such evil is risky. Even in this, which I mostly liked, not everything works. I hated how the film humanized Rockwell's character.

That said, I think the suggestion that it's made for Holocaust deniers is several steps too far.

Eh, not all Nazis were evil Evil. :manny:

Rockwell's character was the kind of soldier who saw through the propaganda bullshyt but had to keep playing along because he knew he'd be killed otherwise. The movie never states it but it seems that's how he became an alcoholic, to cope with the bullshyt.

I buy that argument for conscripted soldiers far more than someone who was in the SS and was literally training the Hitler youth. That suggests more involvement than I'm comfortable humanizing.

He may not have been AS evil as other Nazis, but he's still shown spreading vile anti-Semitism. That he chooses to save the one Jewish kid he knows doesn't make him deserving of a heroic end.
