People forget, every single adult Korean male has served in that country's military and they're in tension with North Korea. shyt ain't a joke. Some of those people have killed while some are waiting word right now waiting to be deployed in the Ukraine conflict.
Koreans absolutely hate the military service requirement as well so it's not like you get a lot of people with soft mentalities after they're done.
Some British citizens did a documentary on it. The training is the real deal that they take very seriously (including joint ops with other countries) for at least two years each person.
