Although I've enjoyed all the John Wick sequels, none of them can touch the original to me. And until now I couldn't figure out why I liked the 1st one so much better than the sequels until I saw this vid.
Hearing both of em made me realize why I liked the 1st one so much more. The fact that everyone was shook of Wick, and how the assassin scene seem much more like an underground thing, verses in the sequel, it seems like the assassin culture is in the entire world and not an underground section of it.
I was just explaining this to a friend last night who has never seen any of the movies.
I hate to say it but I didn't like the third one.
The first one was amazing to me because of the pacing of it all, and how they fleshed out the story of John Wick.
The first one unveils Baba Yaga slowly. We see glimpses of how deadly he is, but the way they linger on people describing their own story of Baba Yaga followed by scenes of him putting in that work really made the first movie incredible to me.
The second I liked because I was excited to see John Wick again, and the story was still interesting.
This third movie did nothing to push the story further and really felt like one long action sequence with no real substance.
I actually found myself yawning through several of the fight sequences and realized this movie is a case of where too much of a good thing is bad.
This third one to me, turned the series into fast and the furious in terms of how unrealistic things have gotten and how the story is a complete non-factor now.
