I never saw the first one in theaters and 2 fast was the one that introduced me to the series. He nailed that need for speed vibe perfectly, a cool ass movie I still love watching
Blassic After Blassic After Blassic After Blassic......Damn man. This hurts. 80's Babies stand up, another one gone. We grew up to this man movies. Just as Spike was taking over in the late 80's, here comes John with a Legendary Classic Debut that he WROTE AND DIRECTED!. Gave Pac and Janet big roles (Janet got nominated for an Oscar too). My mans actually did a major motion picture about the Rosewood Race Riot Massacre. Watching "Higher Learning" prepared a lot of us 80's babies about Racism in College going to White Universities. Of course the "Shaft" sequel and "Baby Boy". He was unapologetically BLACK behind that camera. We need that, stop being scared to TELL OUR STORIES. John said the studio told him "Boyz in the Hood" would flop and to let someone else direct it but he stood his ground, he didn't care what they said. It was his story to tell and he understood that. We all must have that same type of confidence in our own stories. Man this one is tough. So many people owe their careers to this man. He also kept the "Fast and Furious" series going with a blockbuster sequel. Peace John and Thank You.
