Can't believe so many of ya'll drank the WWE kool aid that he is an all time major star in the same vein as Hoegan, Rock and Austin :mjlol:

He's pretty much the poster boy for WWE's decline in popularity.

People that grew up in post wcw era were really brainwashed by wwe revisionist dvds documentaries and history. Even consider HHH a GOaT

Boomers and millennials who stayed watching wrestling as grown men still engaging in this carny way of thinking :mjlol:

Actually drinking the kool aid is thinking the onerous of keeping a TV show afloat is on the talent. That's on Vince, the writing staff, the production side. Only in wrestling do people criticize a TV show on some invisible double standard. Like no, it's the writers job to get me invested in a story, the wrestlers are just the actors :dahell:It's fukking laughable and ironic to claim Cena, or any wrestler, is the "posterboy for WWE's decline"

Wrestling since the beginning has been about star attractions. That's what moves the needle and get's people watching. Hogan did it, Austin did it, Rock did it. People didn't tune in because of the "writers" during the attitude era, because truth told most of the stuff that didn't involve Austin or Rock wasn't good.

The fact that you look at wrestling as a TV show immediately tells me you've been listening to Vince's bullshyt for too long.

People always talk about wanting to see another boom period, but believe me Raw could be the most perfectly booked wrestling show ever with good quality matches and interesting angles but if there wasn't a legit star propping that up it doesn't matter. That's what the people respond to.

Same reason the general population couldn't give a shyt about AEW or NXT. These shows have no real stars.

If you can name me an example of wrestling in America succeeding on a major level that was due to strong writing more than star attractions please let me know.

i could see him be the b or c list replacement for marky mark type roles
Don’t be that guy. The man has a leading role in the fast and furious. He is the leading man in most of his movies . Say you don’t like him and keep it moving but don’t make shyt up. He is a leading man or gets second billing.

Cena entertained me with the feud with AJ, mini program with Reigns, and a few other spots. I was in and out during his super pushes so I can't speak on that too much, though I liked his last Batists feud.

40+ year old dudes who still think Cena was completely Vince made & not one of the greatest wrestlers ever :mjlol:

Let me guess Val Venis is a better wrestler

There's something to this. I think he's in that b tier with Bret, HBK, and Taker. But he's not Hogan, Austin, or Rock who all felt like bigger deals to me. I would even say Goldberg was bigger too especially in 1998-99. But to younger cats Cena was their hogan. Whatever you see during your childhood is gonna seem bigger in the grand scheme of things.

Juan had some good matches and moments but he is nowhere near that elite tier of Rock/Austin/Hogan. He was a great champion for WWE in the sense of acting like a champ outside the ring. Carrying himself a certain way, doing all those make a wish’s, etc. I think that’s what he’ll be most remembered and respected for. But watching every week and being entertained as a viewer? Na. Those were some dark, dark times. Especially coming off the heels of the Attitude/ early Ruthless aggression era.

I would have him over Taker, believe he was bigger name & connected with fans more as well as being the face of company which Taker could never be. The thing with Cena is alot of people let their biases take over + he was the main guy in a dark time in company or years fans stopped. He's leagues above guys like Edge,Orton,Batista so I'm not entirely sure who those fans though should have been pushed more so
