No. They didn't. Zack Ryder's character wasn't sustainable in the WWE. He was going to lose heat regardless. What got him over in the first place wasn't translated to the programming. They actually used Cena in an attempt to extend Ryder's shelf life, which is stupid given Cena's 'unique" reactions. Plus they booked him poorly. By the middle of the storyline his heat was done. And surprise surprise Cena was still getting his half and half reactions.
This shyt is like saying Austin was using Bradshaw to get heat during their short lived alliance fighting the NWO. One is not even in the same league as the other. And both dropped down to near jobber status when their heat died.
