Nah it makes a lot of sense. We've seen it countless times in the past, Cena will go in on you, almost like he goes off script. He wants you to match his intensity or one up him. Look at the feud with AJ Styles, they weren't pulling punches and look who won? I can see why younger talent would be afraid to cross that line though.

Never forget who had the crowd going at WM despite Cena's typical pull for a squash match

Resulted in the crowd booing their proposal too

This, and AJ/Shane, are the only WM matches I care to rewatch to be honest. AJ/Shane for being an interesting match, and this because of the way Miz had the crowd roaring. It was pretty magnificent.
