Yes & no, losing equity is never good.
Equity >>> bag up front.
Breh if Joe played his hand right he could’ve had his main show on Spotify and doing underground shyt to build up other Hip Hop podcasts with quality content.
So much of the shyt that’s out there right now that we would fukk with is basura. I’ve tried listening to NORE’s show and it’s unbearable and Fat Joe rambles. These dudes can pull quality guests but they clearly don’t have writers or a stable blueprint for their shows.
Imagine getting a couple of artists that’s not popping anymore (but are respected) and can talk on the mic without stumbling over themselves. Soul music stations for older black folk have been doing that for years and have cats like Brian McKnight hosting shows and doing a good job at it.
Joe’s formula is stale and since day one he has given the disgruntled washed rapper vibe. that can only last so long. If these dudes wanna have a successful run at this shyt they better get some legit media training and learn how/when to ask questions and when to listen.
RIP to Combat Jack, but he was really the only one with a respected format and it was a good listen despite some bumps in the road with the snow. Dude was connected in the industry and always had great guests who told great stories
