I can't fukk with them seriously because they want to be nikkas but safe at the same time
I respect the brolicness of the brand tho
They came a long way

Deep down he really doesn’t want those dudes to be eating at the level he do, if they’re millionaires then he losesI used to watch religiously. The appeal to me was it was how me and my buls talk with each other about everything. But once they actually got signed to Spotify, I couldn't listen to them ramble twice a week about shyt that was non stories and watch them protect their industry relationships. I think one of the final straws for me was the Drake dikk riding around the Pusha T diss. Listening to them struggle through deeper topics is rough too. They basically spread themselves too thin.
And if they turned down 30 mil when they talk about bullshyt 90 percent of the pod is absurd. Time-sensitive bullshyt at that...I don't know how accurate that number is, but who gives a fukk if its a 360...you negotiate that it's a 360 for the term of the contract and part ways at term. Like yo...there's network TV shows that get 30 million...and there's virtually no overhead or marketing needed for a podcast. I'm legit dumbfounded if this is true.
I say this as a fan for the last 20 years, but this dude is a true nut if he turned down 30 mil for what they do. I'd be pissed if I was Rory and Mal. The show is called Joe Budden Podcast, they helped build his brand up and can't carry that with them elsewhere. Joe is set for life. He may not have fukk You money, but he can go on cruise control. Rory and Mal still have to scrap.
People may hate him but Akademiks the only one keeping it a stack on fronting ass artists and thots of the industry.True
I miss when they rly didnt care who was listening and gave that insider view of how these artists and celebs rly think and live
Im not gonna dispute that lol its a gossip podThat kinda proves my point further.
If they were dropping gems and quality discussion, you would be tuned in listening instead of passively listening.
Earn your leisure is the only correct answer
it’s not “entertaining” but if you’re gonna devote an hour to listen to people talk might as well learn something

control over them and cant lil bro them no more
The urban space is obsessed with "ownership" no matter how little it makes senseLmao what is so special about his podcast that he needs to "own" in lieu of the tens of millions of dollars he turned down? Please tell me what old episodes have you gone back and rewatched? What merchandise of Joe Budden have you purchased and will continue to purchase decades from now? And I say this as a fan of Budden. But it's one of the dumbest "business" decisions I've ever heard. His content is time sensitive. They talk about current events from the previous week that isn't relevant once that week has passed. No one will revisit any of his podcast episodes 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, etc down the line. There is no long term value in it for you to protect. Also every major company sells out a part of their "ownership". Bezos only "owns" 10% or so of Amazon. Elon Musk only "owns" 20% of Tesla.
I agree. The Desus & Mero podcast is unlistenable. and I like them. I do think their show fell off after going to showtime. it was much funnier on viceland.
why do you need to learn something from a podcast?
It's like we're so behind on business acumen that we just jump to any platitude without actually understanding if it makes sense. Everyone's situation is different. There is no one size fits all model for business. Not everyone should be and needs to be an "owner". Certainly we do need more black owners but you still have to be smart. Also you can partner with businesses and still own. Also there's a thing called leverage. Budden could have just partnered with Spotify and leveraged their capital and platform to launch whatever network he wanted to do.The urban space is obsessed with "ownership" no matter how little it makes sense
Once they did like three episodes in a row about how problematic 90's rap was, I knew what time it was...3 years ago.breh I’m listening to this weeks episode right now and this shyt is a dub. Dudes are literally talking about selling out. And whether it’s a joke or not, the shyt just isn’t coming across very well.
