Joe Budden is going to Dame Dash himself out the game in a few years. He should have took the Spotify deal then assess the situation after. I know ownership is the key but who's to say after that deal he wouldn't have had more leverage after. Plus it would have kept his people fed. Sometimes you got to look out for your team first instead of making selfish decisions.

The Spotify deal was a step to there hardwork paying off and Joe's toxic ass fukked that shyt up royally.
spotify wanted ownership of all their ventures outside the podcast as well as ownership of the podcast.

it was a bad deal 30 mill for your soul effectively a 360 from podcasting...

You think Joe will see 30 mil for that patreon deal? I don't know about that now that Mal and Rory are gone. Fact remains is his team would of ate better with that deal and they wouldn't be in that deal forever.

He should ask the majority on Patreon if they would accept a deal from Spotify and see what their reaction would be :mjlol:

They also weren't going to get even close to $30 million dollars from Patreon. The only reason Spotify was offering a premium for podcasts at the time anyways was because they thought that it would translate into new subscribers.

  • Rory and Mal are basically on strike

  • Joe doesn't know if they will ever come back, but if they do they will always have their seats

  • Ice and Savon are not their replacements, just who Joe could find to hold their spots while they figure out this miscommunication

  • According to Joe, it is just a miscommunication. It isn't about money, it isn't a fight, just a miscommunication and Parks adds in and says it's also business PTSD.

  • Joe has talked to both Mal and Rory even in their absence and it is still love

  • Joe believes both are coming back

  • Joe also spoke to the tension the fans pointed out the last few weeks and said it was very real. Says the business talks cant out weight the friendship talks.

  • Joe also speaks to Rory saying he wants to fight Joe every week and how it was more serious than it sounded after Joe said he doesn't play with friends like that and Rory replied what if we are not friends.

  • IMPORTANT: Joe told Rory to take a few podcasts off after the tension got so thick between them, Rory agreed.

  • IMPORTANT: Mal is standing with Rory, doesn't think Joe should have the power to tell Rory to stay home from the podcast. Apparently, the convo got personal and Joe said things to Mal he shouldn't have said (Parks said it didn't go well he was there).
For the people who just want a Mal and Rory update there it is. Seems like even Joe was caught off guard by their sudden leaving, but the love is there so it shouldn’t end so bad. Should be noted though, Joe said it wasn’t about money then talked a whole bunch about podcast money. So I’m assuming the miscommunication was pay-based, Mal and Rory thought they were getting shorted so they said fukk it. Now Joe is in the process of reassuring them he would never do them like that because he has been done like that.

UPDATED: After more listening, it's maybe a few problems. Rory and Joe have real tension, Joe notes maybe the friendship has dwindled a little bit and Joe isn't sure Rory is joking about just swing on him one day. Mal's fight with Joe started with him telling Rory to take some podcast off and apparently that turned into something ugly. Parks noted Joe throws salt in wounds in arguments when he doesn't need to.

i dunno even if they're able to get 1million per man and keep ownership while building a network, i can see the value for joe and honestly i think each man would be happy make 1 million plus a year on patreon, IF they can get a piece of the JBP network by contributing somehow.

truth is i see both sides of the argument, especially being an owner myself. the long game is well worth it if you play right. but i get where rory and mal are coming from, they gotta eat right now b,:francis::yeshrug:.

:francis: His ego won’t do it but he should just sign and “partner” with the CTG black podcast network.

Everybody gets paid, you can promote the buy black business model and just chill until after the Pandemic and can figure out what happens next.

I used to root for Joe because he was forward thinking and always kept it hip hop but ever since he started chatty pattying about Spotify while still being paid by Spotify, I started to see him for who he really is

He's gotten so many opportunities to take advantage of but he pissed them all away as a result of his own arrogance under the guise of "being for the creators"

I really used to think he'd be the new age black Howard Stern

ya the bold plus the weird dog shyt/being on drugs again rumors after all the corny obvious pandering/finger waving he did was when I stopped watching...one of the bright spots of the show early on was the perceived authenticity of their opinions without worrying about backlash...as they became more popular tho that changed (which tends to happen to be fair)...they became more hypocritical and their opinions at times were clearly compromised...show just wasn’t for me anymore

I would still watch episodes when I could even after the dog molestation shyt. I didn't watch religiously like I did before 2019 but I was still somewhat interested

I stopped watching completely when Mal started to repeat MAGA talking points and rationalize what Trump was doing and saying on some "I mean I'm not voting but he kind of has a point" shyt. They started calling him MAGA Mal. I was done after that

when they start touring it'll make up for the cashflow issue.
When is that going to be exactly, with Covid spiking across the nation and venues closed or having capacity caps...

I just don’t think his podcast has any real value in it that requires the level of ownership he wants. Sure some people listen to old episodes but overall its focused so much on current events of a fast food/disposable culture that there won’t be huge interest in previous content. People can go back and listen to Joe Rogan pods because the interviews don’t “expire” in relevance. But who is going back to listen to a podcast about the last Drake album for instance, or last year’s NBA finals.

Spotify would have set them up for their next move. Take the bag, build your brand, and use it as a launch pad for whatever you want to do next. Get your people paid, secure their loyalty. Instead....

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
Joe is a loser. I don’t mean that in the colloquial sense. I mean it in the sense that he’s someone that will take a winning hand and turn it into a L without fail, every time. In fact, a loser will self-sabotage if they even think they are going to win (see: Joe’s rap battle foray). Nobody expects anything from a loser, but winning creates expectations. You have to have a certain character to win consistently. The movie the Hustler has a great psychological breakdown of the mind of someone like Joe. Joe was always going to fukk this up, because that’s who he is.
