Yeah, he he has a few good beats but most aged like shyt and the majority of his catalog is terrible.

It's a disgrace to compare him to any of the greats. He has zero skill at sampling, his drums aren't good, he can't play instruments, there's no melodies, no good baselines, no soul, and there's not one technical ability he can hang his hat on. He just lucked into some hits mainly because his family put him in front of big name artists.

He's not even close to the producers who don't typically get named on top 5-10 these lists.

Nottz, Diamond D, Rockwilder, 9th, Battlecat, Mannie, DJ Paul, Organized Noize, Knxwledge... he's not even close to their ability. He just has hits but get into his album cuts and compare them to others and he's a joke.

All this.

Dude ain't even a Top 100+ producer.

He literally got on because his uncles pushed out their better producers to give Swizz a shot. And even on the 1 beat he had on X's first album, X has said a million times he didn't even like that sh*t. He got forced to work with Swizz, and then they moved him in to do most of the second album, which X said he didn't like either. So he's been forced on us the same way he was on X.

Alchemist said years ago that he likes his beats to speak for themselves when he sends them to artists, unlike Swizz who will show up to your session and almost try to convince you to take one of his beats and "jump around the room to hype the beat up" until you buy one, lol.

I love east coast hip hop but this the definition of east coast bias. Because if Swizz was from anywhere but New York nobody would even entertain the discussion. You even got numerous New Yorkers in here laughing at the idea.

Dude is not even a top 5 hit making NY producer from his general era. Everyone in the Hitmen was better. Rockwilder was better. Trackmasters was better.

Swizz career is a testament to the power of networking and branding. I don't think he as bad as some do, but he got no business being in this conversation.

Have you seen Cassidy's battles? Nikka can make himself believe anything :mjlol:

Everyone laughed at this but it's basically Swizz level:

I don't mind nikkas using hits but it shouldn't be everything especially when we're talking about top 5

Maybe if it's leading to a discussion about influence but other than that it's a weak argument especially in this genre.

You can manufacture hits not skill or talent.

New Yokers never felt him like that. Not sure how its a bias when few here would have him in their list of top 10 New York producers, lwt alone top 5 ever.

Yeah I'm exaggerating but Swizz is a hack who got on through nepotism and somehow convinced people he's dope. I'll never understand it. He just throws some stock keyboard sounds over his go to drum patterns and that's it. It's more noise than music.

Perfect example:

How is Cassidy nodding his head to that trash? It's like no one ever wants to tell him to his face that a beat is wack.

His style is like those kids who play fighting games and don't know any moves or combos but win by button mashing.

Ain't no way an artist back then would get beat tapes with no names on them and pick anything from Swizz.

He was trash when they first brought him around then stole the formula of the RR producers as they got pushed out. He never had to improve because everything was handed to him.

This is true.

A lot of the NY legendary producers were sh*tting on Swizz when he was coming up. They knew he was trash. But people would say they were bitter for just telling the truth. These dudes were traveling to dig in crates in other states and countries to find records to cook up classics with. And Swizz was 16-leveling trash synths on an MPC he never read the manual for, and was getting mad placements. Legends were sick of that sh*t, lol.

TYRONE GA!
The same with the Lox and Eve.

His beats were always covered up by them. Wyl out is a trash beat. Gotta Man is a trash beat. They stay covering his wackness.

:scusthov:

I could never get into him at any point.

Two of the worst

Dem shyts sound like they were both AI generated....and that was back then. Some preschool kid on Fisher Price My first Casio and shyt. nikka made Dem shyts in two minutes and was like :whew:

Both with a Chorus that's Catchy and Lox/Eve saving it lyrically. But the beas themselves are :mjlol:

*Inserts corny scratch*

I hear you, I remember he was getting hated on heavily even in the 90s for his Casio beats. But this wouldn't even be a conversation on the Budden podcast if he was from elsewhere. It'd be seen as ridiculous to even put him in that conversation. Dude was on there putting him over Timbaland which is downright disrespectful.

Gotta be shyttin me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

That was on a MTV short back in the day.

He was acting all hype while playing the beat, and I remember watching that sh*t on TV back then feeling like this n*gga was trying to trick viewers into thinking that trash was good. That's how that dude gets over! LOL!!
