Joe Budden Podcast debating if swizz beatz is in the top 5 producers in HipHop list | Thoughts?

I can't speak for one person, but regionally, I have never heard a contingent of NY heads dig Swizz Beats like that.

I was around a few NYC heads at the time when I was military and they somewhat supported him but sonically hated him cause the beats sounded like he was copying the down south sound and not making gritty NYC beats. Would rock out if it came on in the club but wouldn’t go out their way to blast it (unless it was X, who, I don’t think gets his just due for doing for NY what he did when he dropped. I remember seeing nikkas losing their fckin minds the first time I heard “Get At Me Dog” in a club)

Think about how many producers there have been since hip hop started til now. Why would any non-crackhead even consider Swizz Top 5 ever? Just think about it. Is he even Top 5 of his 5 year era?

Swizz made Party Up. That beat stood the test of time. They got elementary School white girls in a commercial dancing and rapping to it right now, lol.

He had some good moments and got better with time as he did R&B as well. But strictly hip hop beats he is not top 5.

He's produced some incredible beats through the years. Tuscan Leather is an iconic beat IMO.

hell fukking no. i do think he's one of the most important producers ever tho. whether his shyt aged horribly or not, his production style was an inflection point. it changed what new york sounded like, for better and for worse.
