So, Joe's Drake disses were trash? "you can't Bell Biv DeVoe your way outta this one." They were especially great because Drake acted like a Budden groupie up until then, and was hurt. Joe showed that you could get to Drake.

Matter of fact, in every Budden battle, his opponents acknowledged him, meaning they definitely thought he was a capable opponent.

On one hand I want to clown Joe but on the other hand...it can't be a coincidence that each iteration of Drake disses - including Meek's - included similar themes and lines of attack. But in order to get the job done on a mass scale it had to come from a bigger artist with a bigger platform. who was prepared to rumble. Hitting Drake with a barrage of disses (Budden), leaning on the psychoanalysis of Drake's character as a means of offense AND defense (Pusha). Meek wise he learned from his mistake: there were no yes men in Kendrick's corner, his team kept it 100 and clearly helped him craft his strategy and responses.

This. Except i'm still gonna clown on Joe, because this is such a Joe thing to do. BUT, I do remember a few people (some in here) saying that Kendrick's disses weren't that serious because he wasn't saying anything NEW. It was shyt that other people spit before. And if we all agree that the psychoanalysis and surgery allegations did indeed start with Joe, then he's the reason that angle is not new.

At the time, it was like a tree falling in the forest and no one being there. Their statuses were so far apart at the time that Drake no sold it and let Joe just look crazy yelling into the air. Joe pointing it out makes it clownish. But the psychoanalysis begins with him. The BBL shyt starts with him. Then the ghostwriter thing begins with Meek. Push did what he did, and Kendrick blended it all up, and formed the Drake diss angle Voltron, along with the status for it to really hit.

So I get it. But him being the one to say that? Some shyt's just cringeworthy...

:mjtf:Budden was acting like a diehard Drake fan before all of this though. After he drooped his disses he basically retired. Should've just kept rapping.

Joe Budden was on podcast rallying around Drake against Push and when Adidon dropped live on air he reacted like Ak. He wanted Drake to win that shyt vs Push. He’s full of shyt.
