Warren is the strongest VP out of the list. She was a victim of not having a strong enough base in the moderate and progressive camps but she was the perfect compromise candidate. I still believe if Bernie did not run she would have been the nominee

If Bernie didn't run she would have ended up dealing with the same issue: no ability to win black voters, at least not early. Biden wins SC big in that scenario too. Maybe there's a split in terms of candidates dropping out and endorsing either Biden or Warren...but Super Tuesday was always gonna favor the candidate who won black voters. I do think she would have a chance, but it would be hard...and the pandemic would have made it very hard to battle this out.

It would have been interesting. I think Obama wanted Warren to win, personally. Not because they agree on everything (they don't) but because she could win and fires up the base. Maybe he's pushing for Warren to be VP now. Clearly Biden takes his advice seriously.

Not that I think this will hold any weight but he “can’t” pick Klobuchar over Harris due to backlash. Warren he could skate that but bland as Amy............

You are fooling yourself if you think the average voter on either side and in between that doesn’t intently pay attention to politics knows who she is.
That's a helluva straw man you created there. If that was the criteria, none of the candidates outside of Warren and Harris would be considered big names, yet...

That’s not a straw man. It’s criteria. Warren, Harris and Klobuchar are all former presidential candidates in this cycle. So that’s a general undeniable form of name recognition. Everyone after that group doesn’t really have a lot of name recognition except for Whitmer and that’s purely COVID-19 based.

Abrams has media appearances but again “big name” doesn’t qualify. If you say the others don’t then that further moves her down the scale. I don’t see how this is really a question.

Stacey Abrams is NOT qualified to be Vice President or President and especially when you have a President that will be in his late 70s/early 80s.

She has NO statewide or federal governmental experience. She should have ran for one of the open Senate seats in Georgia or run again for Governor in 2022.

We can't have a VP that was just the "Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives". That just can't fly :manny:.

Too many Democrats get caught up in the hoopla sometimes. I love Stacey but she needs to at least get some statewide or federal governmental experience BEFORE making that leap.

It'll be Harris, Warren, or Whitmer. I don't think anyone else matters. If the goal is to fire up the base, it's Warren. If the goal is to lean heavy into the Midwest, it's Whitmer. If the goal is to bet on black, it's Harris.

I don't think any of them are truly strong VPs.

I think it ends up being Kamala. Biden should already be strong in the Midwest so he doesn't need a Midwest politician. Warren isn't the progressive darling anymore after the primaries so she doesn't bring much to the table. Black ppl will feel betrayed if he doesn't pick a black VP considering they saved him, and Stacy Abrams has little experience.

Harris doesn't have the support of all black people, especially black men.

Another thing that could be a problem for picking Harris is that she isn't ADOS/FBA black.

Vast majority of black people have never heard the term ADOS nor do they care about that. Obama (probably) isn't ADOS either.

I have major issues with Harris but if she was on the ticket I'd expect a celebratory reaction from most black people. Not all, but most.
