Not the same. It’ll turn off voters. Of course it won’t dissuade the party from voting Trump out but I don’t see what Rice brings to the table that outweighs the horrible optics.

You just saw in this thread someone saying Rice was the perfect pick but then after finding out she had a MAGA son saying nevermind.

You may not think it’s a big deal but it’s a big deal to people who hate Trump and that’s a lot of people who are voting for Biden.

Going from perfect pick to not a perfect pick isn't a big jump. If that person went from perfect pick to def dont pick then that's another thing entirely.

Either way I'm neutral at best on Rice so I just don't think it will lose more voters than Kamala imprisoning people would

she can say that they are a family that welcomes open dialogue and freedom of expression without belittling others for their opinions. done.

It’s actually a good thing. Republicans who know trump is deranged but are too scared to vote democratic won’t be too scared of voting for Susan knowing her son is a republican.

I think Warren should be the pick, but the VP pick is now a PR move instead of picking someone who can run Congress and can step in in case the worst happens, but what do I know... I feel like it all comes down to whose family look the most like the Huxtables in their family photos. Whenever I ask what makes this person the right choice, people immediately pull out some pictures talking about look at this black family. Then I be like, my family is black why not pick me. Since I'm ranting... why does it just have to be a woman. Why not somebody like Yang?

Lets take a look at Val Demings strengths.

Dems:

LGBT - Chief of Police during Pulse Shooting

Black Community - Generational Black Family

BLM- Her and her husband are pro defunding police. She was very vocal about changing police policies while a police chief

Progressives - She was never been put into a positon to be "anti-progressive".

Working Class Black Collar workers - Decedent of black collar workers that work with their hands and was one herself. Only candidate left that can give you this.


Repubs/Independent:

Blue Collar - can sell blue collar "pro-cop" dreams to rural america. This won't get votes, but it may keep some of the fringe voting republicans at home, bc shes "not that bad".

Keisha Bottoms, Stacey Abrams and Susan Rice need to step aside and covertly endorse Val. She's obviously the leading candidate thats being pushed by the black contingent of the democratic party.


Kamala isnt from the same ilk as Obama. Kamala rode the white progressive wave to power, Obama built his base in the black community and then expanded. She will never be seen as a leader within the black community.

I’ll entertain this one. When you say “ppl” who do you mean?

As far as a case. Let’s just look at the reality of the situation as of July 11:

• She has a long history with Biden and Obama and worked particularly close with Biden when he was Veep
• She’s supper accomplished outside of not previously holding a political office.
• Based on that the fact she is being mentioned in non-opinion piece articles and making surrogate appearances this close to the reported Aug. 1 announcement, she clearly in the picture as a serious candidate. They wouldn’t have her mentioned or appearing if she wasn’t.

Point being people can debate the idea but at this stage of the game she has to be squarely in the discussion.
