The fact that they're all trying to please Vince is a creative problem in itself since hat stifles their creativity in the first place, to be honest. In my opinion, guys and girls who have been on the main roster for 5 or more years should just be given bullet points. If they're not in tune with their character's motivations by then, then they need to
As a writer myself though, I'm happy that WWE's employing 15 to 20 more people than they need to though
So much this. Like, yay for my writer peeps getting checks but whoo, boy I can't imagine the level of frustration in that writers room.
When you have that many people involved in the writing process, even the most efficient system is gonna get stressed every now and again. This...does not sound anywhere close to an efficient system. This sounds like a creative nightmare. Also this stuck out to me:
“No, absolutely not. 25 writers is not too many. Do you feel like sometimes there are too many cooks in the kitchen the day of RAW when you’re making changes at the eleventh hour? Sure, you’ll feel like ‘Why didn’t you say something about this three days ago?’
Um...why the hell didn't you, though? That's a legit question to ask, imo. Barring influences outside of your control (i.e. performer illness, crowd swerve) if we're having meetings where we're communicating effectively...why are you just now telling me at the last minute something isn't working? Sure, you have to account for a certain amount of flexibility when you're working with a group, but routinely waiting until the last minute and then being like "nah, changed my mind. This ain't it, chief." just creates a lot of unnecessary stress.
And also, Jacobs may be too much of a professional to say it, but being micromanaged to this degree also creates a work environment where people start coasting. If instead of trying to appeal to wide range of people, your focus is on making one guy happy, you're going to start tailoring your work to fit that person's tastes. You can have a bunch of innovative ideas, but if you know the person with the power isn't going to go for them (even if the audience might) the odds are,you aren't going to pitch them. You will however, pitch what you figure they'll greenlight. And that's how you get a lot of repetitive, low creativity writing.
