casuals destroyed the gaming industry for me.
Paying for bonus content thats on the fukking disc.
Paying for betas and fukking demos.
Paying to play peer to peer online.
Paying for shyt that was standard free contents.

I can't get mad at the companies it makes sense to do what they do when you have kids and adults dumb enough to pay.

So I just had to stop playing.

You guys are just spoiled. There are some cases that can't be defended such as 2K and their blatant attempt to get people to grind their life away in one of their most popular modes.

BUT

On average if you were to break down how many hours you get from a typical $60 game - video games tend to win based on value. People spend $30-$60 easy on a movie night and its all over in a few hours. Same goes for gambling at a casino etc.

Yea how many times is this topic going to be made? We get it the gaming industry sucks and is going to hell.

Clearly we don't get it. There are still plenty of people who will defend these BS practices.

Like this... you are missing the point. Many people end up spending much more than that $60 initial buy in when you add in DLC, loot boxes and all the other shyt mentioned earlier. Add to the fact that they work their employees ragged and often release unfinished products, it's easy to see why people are disgusted by major gaming corporations.

It's not a matter of being "spoiled"... Forgive me if this sounds too dramatic, but there's actual harm being done so shareholders can keep making hundreds of millions of dollars and consumers can escape reality for a few hours a day.

Casinos are regulated and there are organizations who provide assistance to people with addictions to gambling. Video games aren't analogous in that way, but some of these companies have recently employed the same tactics to bring out compulsive spending behavior.

I get the point.

The point is that you guys are just spoiled and cheap as fukk. This is the same crowd that wants the world given to them in a $300 box.

Nothing is wrong with the majority of titles out there. This clickbait video y’all are watching has almost no point to it. Nobody is forcing you fukks to do anything.

PLUS if you factor inflation...games are more affordable than ever. You literally can drop $10 right now and have access to hundreds of games a month if you have the right console. Blockbuster or any of those old video stores could not provide that back then.

No one is defending this. This shyt has been going on for almost ten years now. Its terrible and it sucks. So either don't support it or big up companies that actually are fair to consumers. Oh whats that? No views talking about little known indy games? LOL. But what sense does it make continuing to make the same vid over and over again. Most of the grief community of youtube gaming have been exposed anyway. Half them bytch about these games for views and they don't even play half of them. Just regurgitate the base Reddit talking points. Plus most of these companies have honestly toned down on the old DLC practices of last gen. So its even more pointless.

@Liquid is right. Video games are so much cheaper than other forms of entertainment. Even if you only play a game for 10 hours, that’s only $6 an hour. If you add in dlc and bring the game to $100, that is still only $10 an hour. What other form of entertainment gives you such value, and at such a high quality? And that’s only playing a game for 10 hours. Some games can easily be played for 50hours....100 for some. We’re looking at $1 or $2 an hour. What’s the problem here? :mindblown:
