Same thing with Cesaro & Kevin Owens and a lot of those themes that all just kind of bleed together

Yeah, I think those WWF: The Music CDs used to sell in the millions and he was the main songwriter on them
Yeah, the ones during he Attitude era all went platinum

From what I see, he comes off as one of the few people in the wrestling industry that isn't a scumbag. :mjcry:

He's right about the music though, one hundred percent. It's not about giving the wrestler something that fits with their character and something that people will remember years from now. Most of it these days is generic and blends together. It also affects the theme songs for RAW, SmackDown, and pay per views too.

Dapped and agreed.

Like breh said in his post, these new themes are like generic action movies themes (Im lookin at you Dean and Seth)

When that glass break:gladbron:... or you heard them bells:to:... or the great ones "IF YOU SMELL":blessed:

It like added another layer to the character.

BREAK THE WALLS DOWN
:whew: Made Jericho a star right off the bat.

Goldust, could you imagine him with any other theme? He hit that shyt right on the money.

The Brood/Gangrel :ohlawd:

Razor Ramon :whew:

That riff that opens Brets theme, then them strings!

Latino fukkin Heat brehs...
LATINO!:dj2:HEAT!

The theme "Shooter' ....yeah.
:francis:

Johnston a real musical genius.

Longtime WWE music composer Jim Johnston recently did an interview with Newsweek.com and here is an excerpt:

You said the last few years of your tenure was when things took a turn for the worse. That seems to correlate with WWE hiring the production duo CFO$ to create some of their new music. Is that fair to say?

"Yes, it’s fair to say. I’m not working with them so I don't know what their directives are. All I can react to is what I’m hearing. I’m sure they’re talented guys. But what’s being produced just feels too homogenous. It’s just music that plays—it doesn’t feel like each guy is really themed. All the women have a dance music kind of thing. And it’s lots and lots of loud sound effects.

What makes me the worst is not anything that happened to me, or any negativity towards those composers...I feel bad for the talent trying to build careers for themselves when I just don’t feel they’re being served well enough to become stars. Before 'Stone Cold' was 'Stone Cold' he was The Ringmaster. The Ringmaster’s theme was something I wrote for him. The music can make such a difference in the person and how they perform. That same guy who was dead-in-the-water as The Ringmaster, a couple of tweaks, different music, different attitude, and he becomes one of the most popular people in the history of the genre.

I’m wondering who is working currently at WWE who is an absolute superstar but, who, because they’re wrapped in a homogenous piece of clothing, they’re stuck and can’t break out? I would hope they would try to really brand each guy and each woman as an individual."

He talks about how the lack of creativity with the wrestling themes in todays industry is not helping these young guys becomes stars.. He said it also is why these guys arent connecting with a wider audience.. H

He said he used to write themes to tell a story about who that specific character is. now a days its all generic rock sounding themes. nothing personal about them

They talked about how Nakamura's them was originally supposed to be glorious:stopitslime:

And at the end he plays the UT theme on the keyboard.. dude should have never been fired

I don’t understand how literally everybody knows that wrestling has sucked for 15+ years yet they continue to do garbage.

This is the worst era for entrance music in WWE, most of the themes don’t even fit, I mean they got Nikki Cross coming out to country music, they had Peyton Royce coming out to some Wyoming strip club music, don’t even get me started on NXT, I don’t even know who’s coming out half the time.

It’s the same across all promotions, it’s like they don’t even try anymore
