I mean....I don't way to say "to be fair" because it was gross when anyone did it, but that was a pretty common refrain at the time in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. You'll find a lot of clips of people a lot more influential than Jim Cornette on much bigger platforms than a local TV wrestling show saying almost exactly the same thing in the days/weeks/months after 9/11.

JBL went that far on that Smackdown. Otherwise, Cornette language was a right wing refrain. It generates a thought given his current understanding liberal gimmick

Ya it’s aged terribly but this isn’t far from the general sentiment at the time, for a lot of people.

Publishing might be the one industry more insular than wrestling, so change is definitely gonna be slow on that front.

It really is. And it's just as grimy as wrestling too, it just looks shinier from the outside and has a classicism to go along with the racism, abuse and nepotism.

An extreme racist piece of shyt. Lmao at Cena trying to fade out the camera shot

what evidence are those videos in him being racist? a lot of people felt that way after 9/11 mostly out of ignorance and the way things were being portrayed in the media

not saying he isnt racist but that isnt great evidence

At this point a full denial of everything won't fly at all, so my guess is that he'll cut a full-on Cornette-style promo and defiantly confess to having unusual sexual tastes while emphasizing the point that as long as it ain't illegal, it's nobody's damn business.

But obviously he'll never admit to any kind of power play or abuse. And he knows it'll be hard for anybody to actually prove him wrong on that.

So I think he'll actually survive this. It's fresh right now, but eventually it'll just blend in with all the other dirt in the wrestling business.

I've only ever heard the YouTube clips, does the podcast have advertisers? If not, there is really nothing that can be taken away. He is super serving a small but seemingly dedicated group of people.

Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru

Cornette responds. Basically says he didn't even have power during the time of some of these accusations and that he had heat during the times he did and Johnny Ace wanted to replace him, so if he did it somebody would've gone to Johnny Ace or the office.

Yeah I'm listening now, 20 minutes in, no denials that he likes to watch that hog wife of his get plowed. Just that the idea he had any stroke is laughable.

To be honest, I figured he'd say that as that was the most contentious thing in the accusations.

Complete bullshyt.

Cornette was part-owner of the fukking promotion from 1999 until 2007, 2 years AFTER WWE fired him for slapping Santino. And even if he did have heat (which I believe was true), WWE really didn't interfere much with his booking of the promotion, so it's a moot point either way (also, HE WAS PART-OWNER OF OVW. The only person who was going to tell him what to do there that he would have to listen to was Nightmare Danny Davis). He may not have been powerful in the WWE hierarchy, but he was at worst the second most powerful man in OVW itself with a bunch of know-nothing trainees at their disposal. And besides, how often have we heard stories about WWE developmental that clearly demonstrate how little attention they paid to it before Hunter took control of everything (read up on Deep South Wrestling for a paramount example of this)?

Why do people say easily refutable things like this? :mindblown:

Also, that 9-11 clip is disgusting. Cena looks so embarrassed and uncomfortable to be a part of that.
