I understand what you are trying to say but until people start to actually vote for third parties instead of just picking one of the Big Two (and I am talking from local to country wide elections) because they just assume the third party candidate doesn't have a shot we will never see a third party make the inroads to become a part of the government.
People create self-fulfilling prophecies because they always look at third party candidates sideways despite constantly saying they are sick of the Dems/Repubs. You gotta at least take the leap and vote for someone besides the Dems/Repubs before anything will ever change.

Man, I've responded to this logic too many times already. If you want a more in-depth response (see Lupe thread on here). But basically, there is a time and place for voting for third parties. Elections like this and while in swing states are not that time.

I just want to say one last thing about third parties, and I like this woman, but people voting for them are operating under the assumption that they wouldn't become subject to the same problems that affect candidates from the major parties. I don't see the scenario where they would not become affected by special interest groups and would not have to deal with an American populace that can be so heavily divided and easily persuaded. All of that without the institutional backing. I'd feel more comfortable voting for a third party candidate when the green party can show me that they can get enough of their candidates into the Senate and Congress where they would be able to get things passed. If there is one on the ballot for local and congressional races then I can see myself voting for them there.

But I can't give this women my vote for the presidency right now.

well you gotta start somewhere. obviously no one expects her to win. at the moment it's about getting the ball rolling, and making these third parties more viable

but that is not gonna happen on it's own. it seems a lot of people want to wait for the third party to become more viable, before giving their support. but how is the third party ever gonna become more viable if people don't support? I mean you're really gonna wait until "the green party can show me that they can get enough of their candidates into the Senate and Congress"? why shoot the breeze about it, when you could be about it? I don't know where you're at, but there are Green Party candidates for congress and other local races:

I don't think I have ever seen any comments from anyone here about why it is not a good idea to vote for third party candidates in local races.

:snoop: Can we just talk about the ideas she presented in the video instead of having another :deadhorse: convo about 3rd party voting? I'll have something to say later on when I have more time.

I'm sure people will hate this analogy, but...

this is like if you find some new rapper you like, but don't want to support them until they sell a million records, or until more people on the-coli are talking about them

:rudy: just admit it

I admit I posted two acronyms and a smiley to express my disagreement with a poster's voting choice, to which he hasn't even responded yet. Now I'm imploring people to have a discussion about the ideas and policy positions proposed by Jill Stein instead of recreating the :deadhorse: convo where nobody's going to change anybody's mind about their voting decision in the Lupe thread and countless other threads. Cool? :beli:

then you should have implored BarNone to not take the convo there with the paragraph he wrote. but instead you replied and basically agreed with him. and now he's calling on you to defend what he said
