Good post, VVD.
Found out Stein is going to be on the ballot in PA after not being sure if she was so now I am voting for her. This will be my second time voting for the Green Party candidate.

Good post.

If Michigan wasn't a potential swing state she'd have my vote.

I'd vote for her if I didn't live in a swing state. But I live in the biggest most important swing state of them all so it's :obama: all day. :smh:@TUH.

I just want to say one last thing about third parties, and I like this woman, but people voting for them are operating under the assumption that they wouldn't become subject to the same problems that affect candidates from the major parties. I don't see the scenario where they would not become affected by special interest groups and would not have to deal with an American populace that can be so heavily divided and easily persuaded. All of that without the institutional backing. I'd feel more comfortable voting for a third party candidate when the green party can show me that they can get enough of their candidates into the Senate and Congress where they would be able to get things passed. If there is one on the ballot for local and congressional races then I can see myself voting for them there.

But I can't give this women my vote for the presidency right now.

Yeah people talk about Obama being ineffectual. Imagine President Ron Paul or Ralph Nader trying to get shyt through Congress.

Exactly. Green Party candidate would either hold onto their stances, get nothing done and effectively destroy the party or become a bit more to the left than the way Obama is governing right now.

Well I don't think anybody ever really thought that Nader or Paul had any chance of being elected anyway, it's more to send a message to the major parties. For example, if the GOP starts losing a significant number of votes to the Libertarian Party, then maybe the GOP will shift in that direction somewhat. Same thing with the Green Party and the Dems.

That said, like I mentioned earlier I personally wouldn't advocate voting 3rd party if you live in a swing state (unless you literally have no preference at all between Romney and Obama) but if you live in a state like NY where the outcome is set in stone, then :yeshrug: .

If there is no money involved in the third parties with the campaign thru lobbyists and special interest group....I doubt highly it would be corrupted.

I understand what you are trying to say but until people start to actually vote for third parties instead of just picking one of the Big Two (and I am talking from local to country wide elections) because they just assume the third party candidate doesn't have a shot we will never see a third party make the inroads to become a part of the government.
People create self-fulfilling prophecies because they always look at third party candidates sideways despite constantly saying they are sick of the Dems/Repubs. You gotta at least take the leap and vote for someone besides the Dems/Repubs before anything will ever change.
