If you can't admit that the way they both used the line was at least similar, then you are blinded by stannery and there is nothing I can do to help

It has nothin' to do with defendin' Jay-Z, breh...

It has more to do with you thinking a common expression (used in everyday conversation, not just on SOHH) was "bitten" because someone else said it before on a song. If you had to go by that as "evidence", then shyt, everybody musta bit somethin' before.

I'm thinking the "don't ask me how" part refers to him and his dogs creeping through the fog from then to now.

If I just say "me an my homies been creeping through the fog from then till now" what does it mean? It doesn't really make sense so if I add "don't ask me how" I'm justifying my confusing or invalid statement which is the same way Jigga used it

No one has been able to dispute my "repeated explanation". just saying it's a common phrase proves nothing. EVERYTHING is a common phrase. What makes some rappers so great is that they can take those "common phrases" and make something new with them. In my opinion this was a case of two rappers using the same common phrase in a very similar way.

So when people on this web site say "don't ask me how" are they just using a common phrase or are they referencing the jay line?

And your interpretation of the line is your opinion. I interpret the line differently. I hadn't heard the DMX song in a long time, and that part really stood out to me. Listening to both songs they used the line in a very similar way. I could be wrong but in my opinion jay knew what he was doing.

Like really, you gon call jay quotin slick rick in a song titled "the ruler's back" as biting? I mean a few like the cappadonna one were clearly biting, but most of them were obviously paying homage because they were well known lines that everyone knew where originally from snoop/big/pac or whoever

damn shame you should even have to make this disclaimer.... but on this site it is what it is... however, being that i've never been into jigga and he's one of my least favorite rappers, your whole premise for your argument is a huge reach.... be safe and watch your back... these jigga warriors are vicious... i know, i've been to war with them on a few occasions....
