Good point. The Yankees do have a few contracts coming off the books at the end of this and next year (Soriano, Garcia, Martin, Swisher to name a few).

It's hard to envision 5 players earning 20 million + per season.

A lot can sure change and I don't think the number will ever be as high as it has been, but going forward, the Yankees have been developing guys to eventually take the place of some guys here. Gumbs, Sanchez, Bichette, Heathcott, Ma$e, etc. in time, those guys will make their way to the pro squad inevitably (especially Mason Williams). They're not gonna go that crazy when it comes to free agency unless it absolutely fills a need.
