Shut the fukk up with that condescending bullshyt. I live in Memphis, where there's a large and significant community of black people making moves and doing important things in my community. The dumb ass shyt you're talking about only applies to the limited amount of people you know where you live. Me and my mother actively volunteer in churches in my community. I have a friend who's brother has a youth ministry. My mother knows healthcare professionals around my city who are active in the community. I live around and associate with people who are actually doing shyt with their lives, not talking about it on the coli

Stop speaking in these bullshyt catch-all terms like what you personally see represents all black people in America. You opinion and perception isn't more valid than anyone else's

And wtf do you do? Are you actively involved in your community or do you just tell other black folks what they should be doing on the coli?
What I'm talking about is the majority of what black people in all of America are doing. They still applying to work for white people. They still shopping at white stores. Rather buy a iPad than to create a business that sells something better than iPad. Look at Samsung, they didn't have to go into the smartphone game but they did because they knew the importance of building business. Keep thinking that sellling hotep necklaces at the subway gate is doing anything for the community.

The speech was nice but speeches like this don't move me even a little anymore. I feel like applause over messages like this is tacky and it turned me completely off seeing cameras panning to celebrities clapping that are too cowardly to give similar messages in fear of rocking the boat and messing up their money.

It's almost hilarious considering that Jesse is biracial and openly attacking whiteness in a way that "full Black" Black people in that very same venue aren't.... Almost hilarious but ultimately saddening.
I agree.

If a full black man like myself who is the product of two black parents openely talked about how much of a plague "whiteness" is on the order of society I would be called "racist".

I remember last year when I was working with the southern poverty law center and were canvasing in Downtown Brooklyn near DUMBO.

This white woman walks up to me and says with a straight face "do you deal with racism against white people?"

In a nice, comforting, and honest tone, I say "well..."

And this woman walks the other direction and doesn't even look back at me. Didn't even let me talk.
:francis:

White people don't want to hear the truth about themselves especially from a person they've been conditioned all of their lives to hate and see themselves as superior than.

Who's begging for equality?

Did you even listen to what he said?

You have unrealistic expectations if you think anything short of the eradication of racism is worthless. Sure, words in and of themselves may not be enough. Words, however, can be inspiring for some and can cause them to act or continue acting.

Good luck with your business.
talking about it is only talking about it. We have been talking about it for over 500 years.

Nah I agree, mixed ppl definitely have it easier, I'm just saying they still suffer under the system of white supremacy too and have every right to give a speech like this. Just because it comes from a "mulatto" doesn't mean it's less legit. If you aren't full blooded white, you're not part of the system of white supremacy.
And that's what makes Jesse Williams more impressive.

Most mixed blacks don't even fukk with black people like that...many of them seem to associate with whites and never stand up for us.

For every Blake Griffin you have a J.Cole or JW or Amandla Steinberg.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
How can we all of a sudden become outraged after a white person kills a black person, but when we kill each other on a daily basis across the country, you don't hear anything out of the black lives matter crew.

Why the double standard?

If black lives are valued then there should be just as much outrage at the murders taking place in the inner cities across the country. Protest should be held in each community across the country whenever there is a black murder.

This is the type hypocritical double standard type shyt black Americans wont address, plus it explains why no one takes the black live matter crew serious.

Fukk outta here.
Shut the fukk up.

Like I've said countless times in this thread tho, its pointless us going back and forth with each other on who of us is supporting black business. Most of us do this shyt every single day.

But poor, middle class and rich blacks have to come together to make shyt work.

The REAL question to ask is how many celebs have already forgotten the shyt just 12 hours since it was said. I'd bet like 50% already. We talking shyt about Jesse being all talk, Beyonce ass was supposedly "making a point" with formation, and clearly that shyt went no where. This celebrity worship ain't doing shyt for us, and they constantly let us know we ain't shyt on they radar.

Remember my black brothers and sisters.

Anything that calls out their wrongdoings or even discusses the reality of racism, is "racist" to them cause they don't experience it.

They want us to suffer in silence.

:mjpls:

Racist white people will always make the rest of you "down" white folk look like trash.

These are your people...handle them...it isn't my job to deal with crackers.

This is why I have a problem with the speech. TV will allow a half black to talk about racism so bluntly but let a black person with over 60% black blood go up there and say something and they will cut to a commercial.

I agree with some of what you said, but that wasn't the point I was making.

Samsung is a fukking multi-billion dollar conglomerate from South Korea that's existed since 1938. WHAT THE fukk DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING!!!!???

Before I break down everything else that's wrong with that post; let me ask you this for the 2nd time...

WHAT TF ARE YOU DOING FOR YOUR COMMUNITY? Telling nikkas about hypothetical ideas on the coli doesn't count
