Came in here to drop kudos on dude...and as usual, the Coli focused on the fact dude is half-white and not on the fact that dude has been much more TRILL and mobile and active for us in the social AND activist forum on OUR behalf than 80% of ya'lls so called "real nikkas".

Dude had an oppritunity to pass for white, to pass on all this bullshyt we go through to remain silent like the vast majority of "black celebrities". But no dude has lived his adult life trying to champion causes for a side that he CHOSE to fight for. I actually find that commendable. Here is a man that had all the chances in life to say "fukk that, i'm white. Or im "biracial" and totally dodge and avoid ALL of these issues. But he's standing her with us and fighting the same battle and all you nikkas can think of is optics. Getting angry at him for something that he cannot change, and yet paying NO attention to the fact that he is FULLY immersed in our culture and uplift.

Instead of focusing on the fact Jessie's got blue eyes how about focusing on the fact that he's been organizing and standing up for civil injustices along with the countless organizers, the civil law lawyers, and the people...

Some of ya'll wouldn't know a freedom fighter from a falafel...:camby:

Anyone taking this speech as anything but a feel-good-wait-in-the-water do nothing koombaya is a lost cause. Next month another innocent black person will be killed and all yall will do is koombaya some more. Cause yall never wanted to lift a finger to begin with.
There has been a person or two or more killed by police everyday this year...except for 1.
Killed By Police - 2016

Next month? You mean tomorrow. It's like we've forgotten how brutal and racist these motherfukkers are. We've been blinded by the media. Deray and BLM are just trying to get that mainstream acceptance and appeal...

I understand many black people love to hear talk like this...but it's better to hear this than to delude ourselves into thinking everything is gravy because we see a bunch of black men and women on TV and in movies and on the radio and we have token black people working corporate 9-5 jobs but don't own the business that they are employed to.

Maybe in 2017, black people are too busy getting off at a mulatto''s MLK speech on a white owned BET awards show. Wait for the next black child to be killed by another racist to get the part time militants to think this up.
No way. This speech gets black people taking and discussion which begets thinking which begets decisions, which begets action. The more we talk about it the more it becomes less cool to c00n. I've even seen the progression on the coli. There is way less of a c00n presence on the coli than two years ago.

Yea but when yall go the 1 drop rule route, yall taking history out of context. That was not implemented for people with 1 white parent, as I stated based on science, in those circumstances, that person was going to come out majority black anyway and everyone could see it. White people have recessive genes and they hate to admit that so they came up with this bullshyt called "biracial" to imply the mating would be a 50/50 split when science says it never has. Then whites used these differences, never to empower this "biracial" person outside of using them to enslave and war with other black people, this is how these caste systems came into place. They used a genetic ability we have against us, and that is the ability to produce all shades.

The 1 drop rule was implemented for black people who had 2 black parents but would attempt to gain rights using a white grand parent or white great great grand parent. White people were not having it. They were implementing many things to disrupt our ability to get rights, even so many of us trying to claim Indian to get rights but they busted that up too.

So all this becomes nonsense. Tamir rice, rekhia boyd, Tony Robinson, were all light skinned black people killed by police do we not share their struggle simply because we created this imaginary divide that america does not adhere to itself?

I would argue that we didn't create the division at all. Any division started with white folk placing labels and moving things around as they saw fit. To them yea, Black is Black. The issue is that we use the same standards that they use, which is ironic considering. I guess I'm saying I kinda agree with you? But the argument would go to "Can a white women make a Black child"

White Society would say yes. We used to say yes now we say no. So now this child is in the middle with an identity crisis. Neither side wants to fully claim them for various reasons. This race bs that we didn't invent is screwing us even now. I say mixed usually not biracial only because I'm going to acknowledge their family history. I figure people used mixed and biracial as the same thing, my bad.

It is not doing us any favors. It ain't #alllivesmatter but I don't see Black Unity being a thing because of things like this. Also thank you for the brief lesson behind the "one drop rule". Honest.

Nothing he said was wrong....:yeshrug:He was speaking the real and it needed to be said n heard.
But his speech will get lost in this thread and deliberately get turned into "He's mixed, he ain't black" thread :francis:
We don't have to accept Jesse Williams or claim him to be black, but we should appreciate his message, activism and efforts to fight white supremacy. :yeshrug:
He's risking his job, career and finances to fight for what he believes in. How can I hate on that? He's a real man.....nuff said. :salute:
EXACTLY!

She could pass for white, but she wasn't white

Malcolm X mother aka Louise Little was born in Grenada to a White father and a Black mother.

Louise Little never met her father and Malcolm alludes (in his autobiography) that he was a rapist...

I agree with everything else you wrote, just had to correct this as I just finished his Autobiography
Fully understood, but again black/white was social classification in the 1st place, if she could pass for white, she white breh. We have seen malcolm mother, she whiter than jesse l williams will ever be lol. If you looked at her, you wouldn't know she had a black mother.

But all I'm saying is, who cares? We are going to keep running to the berbers who betrayed africans hundreds of years ago, ignoring that the berbers themselves after helping the romans got taken out by the romans too, or the creoles who tried to be this aristocratic upper class (there were dark skinned creoles tho, little known fact) just to eventually get bum rushed by the British and french. This shyt was hundreds of years ago, and hell we can find cases of african people darker than Wesley snipes selling us out. Research a tippu tip, he was one of the biggest slave traders working for the arabs, he was dark as hell. Whole african tribes who betrayed us most of hem dark skinned. We need to learn discernment. If you with me you with me, skin complexion aside. I don't give a shyt how dark he is, jesse Lee Peterson is not my brother, larry elder is not my brother, Armstrong williams is not my brother, and they are all dark skinned, but their interest are not for us. That is how we need to build. Not putting imaginary paper bags to everyone faces and looking at people parents that they can't decide to determine who black or not.

I feel like sinc eObama stepped in office, black folks mentally have made strides.

There are more AAs learning about their lineage, history, heritage, and African roots and are no longer ashamed of it but see it as something to be proud of.
More blacks questioning and acknowledging white privilege, white supremacy, systemic racism, and the spoils
More black people taking pride in being black
High enrollment rates for black men and women and graduation rates in college and high school each and every year.
More black businesses since 2007...

Even I'll admit, personally since Obama stepped in office, I've been a bit more prejudiced towards whites cause I no longer see them as above me or as something to aspire towards.

Miserable folks in here. The man gets on a national platform, says everything a certain group on here agree with and all they can see is his white mama. Now...he can't choose his parents but he can choose his stance. Think about that for a second.
Concise and thoughtful post. We should all be celebrating the man and thinking how can I live a more purposeful life at home and in my community. It's a shame that so many people continue to subscribe to lazy, tired thinking.

Such a lame FALSE deflection that white supremacists love to use. Those deaths have always been addressed and there are community groups speaking out against them.
They always used the black-on-black-crime rhetoric to buffer our rally cry. Where

are these same maggots when WE are active in the community, trying to make sense/mend our

internal plight. Right, on the sidelines ready to throw their stones for their CaCsucKKKing Allies:wtb::scust:

A white woman can indeed make a black baby, and that was the cause of racism white supremacy in the 1st place. White men once believed that you are that of your father's loins. But when white men were raping black women, children with color kept being produced. they no longer had Caucasians hair, body structure, noses, lips, all those things were negroid. This was the focal point of racism white supremacy, them realizing they had recessive genes. The fear of their own annihilation. Hell they burned whole cities down because of a black man sleeping with a white woman and impregnating her. They didn't once consider that baby a white baby, that was a ****** baby like the rest based on the looks.

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
"He's done more" like what? What has he seriously done that is of any serious threat to white supremacy? Not a damn thing. Community work is altruistic but it ain't dismantling a damn thing nor does it validate any speech trying to sound like Malcolm X.
Hold up. What is representing a threat to white supremacy then?
