Maybe they should.....Our esteem Intellectual Cornel West for whatever reason ain't holding back
If we don't picket then we have given him a pass.....why because he is a brother????? that's putting character in skin color, where it does not belong.
Some of the biggest sell outs were brothers....not saying Obama is one

i think black people see what obama is doing, but criticizing him in private and anybody who does so in public will feel our wrath but that leads to your second argument:

Why Not??? we are not all Monolithic, are we??? - where are the black Republicans???
Maybe we need more black Republicans.
Not that you have to be a Republican to protest Obama.....but that maybe the reason why our elected blacks have not organize in such a fashion - they are mostly Democrats

yes. yes we are a monolithic group, we can't stand black conservatives/republicans, and we roll our eyes at "dem black power nikkas!" like dr umar...like i said in the other post, my pops has been anti-republican pro-black his whole life, but on black america under obama he sounds like hannity/oreilly/limbaugh all wrapped in one

That all maybe truth.....but we live in a country that is still very racist, especially against blacks.
How sure are you that we haven't elected a gay President already? could there have been one who just didn't run on an openly gay ticket or agenda and or platform.....Same could be said of Hispanic.
Should Hillary Clinton win lets see if women will demonstrate at the white house.

Lets remember Obama did not run on a black agenda or platform like Jesse did in the 80's.....he did everything to avoid that when he Obama was running.
Accept it or not believe it or not, Obama is more beholden to those who Bankroll his Campaign first, then to Popular issue second, then to Campaign Promises. All other issue fall along lines of expediency.

people forget, (or may not even know) barack obama's father is african and his mother is white - he was raised in Hawaii, he doesn't have the same working class black experience that we do - even many of us from all regions of the country can relate to things that Obama just can't.

that may sound trivial but I think that explains his disconnect from the black leadership and the american working class black person. so to me he gets a slight pass...

but michelle should know better though:patrice:

I hear you but bruh.....he basically told black folks to STFU

and this was in a room full of black people that America elected into those positions, a lot of them black Americans elected

so when you tell them to stop complaining, whining, and do some work then turn around and give hispanics and gays what they want after they pressured you, what's that say? (i'm just asking)

should black folks have done THIS to the first black president!?

Absolutely. Why in the hell should we be silent while under his presidency black people have been getting slaughtered by the police.

i feel you, trust me I do

but realistically though, black people will not picket and set up outside the white house of the first black president.

that's just not gonna happen fam.

and you best believe, the first gay/female/hispanic president will never be protested outside by their gay/female/hispanic community no matter what

And that's he can talk to us any way he likes. Because he knows we aint gonna do shyt. I'm openly critical of obama. Ill say fukk obama in a room full of black people with the quickness

Obama is a straight up fakkit and I regret ever voting for his bytch ass.

Dude I knew we were in trouble the day he won. I have worked in corporate America long enough to know how it goes when black folks are the first to get a position of power.

Usually they will talk that black shyt in front of you and slit your throat when time comes to show the white bosses how down they are.

Then you add blacks not wanting to rock the boat because he was the first and I knew we were done.

Lets not forget no well known black wanted to calm him out because it would mess up their money and result in backlash.

My thing is black folks don't understand how the game is run. You cannot give one politician a pass while in office then when the new politician comes in you want to hold their feet to the fire.

That does not work. shyt is like accepting an offer then the first day of work you go into the managers office wanting to renegotiate your salary.

I have been watching Obama he fakes Right with his words but goes Left with his actions....throws most people off.
Whilst everyone eyes where on what he is not doing exclusively for black unemployment........Obama hooked us up with 2yrs worth of free tertiary education. Now of course being he is working within the establishment he couldn't just make it exclusive but lets see who is going to make the most of it......My bet is black women will

Plus those black farmers that been waiting for those checks for over 60 yrs finally got them.... A reparations of sorts that may have set a legal precedent for future litigation.

Yeow.....Obama is working within the establishment to accomplish change. It's is a difficult job and to me he is doing just fine.
Yeah..... your pops recognize the psychological effect a black President has on young regardless of color.

Let me let you in on a secret....he never lived the inner city ghetto experience but believe me, Obam probable understand it more than some one who lived it in terms of how to fix it..

Obama is not disconnected from the working class black person........ just the black leadership.

His legacy will make him one of the greatest President of America

You have a Right to be Openly critical of your President that is one of the benefits of living in a so called free society......That same Right extents to Obama too - He can be critical of us.
Of course it goes with saying one is expected to give constructive criticism not cynicism.

Absolutely. Why in the hell should we be silent while under his presidency black people have been getting slaughtered by the police.

You should not be silent, and Obama does not want you to be and he said so in his speech " Take off your bedroom slipper, but on your marching shoe, press on"
What he doe's not want is for you to feel sorry for your self and start "complaining, crying and grumbling".....those are all the actions of someone who have relinquish the fight and has surrendered to despair.

Does those black farmers getting their checks count or you just talking about you specifically....Plus some of them fags are black.
Yeah he is lax on police brutality but Obama tends to act when the furor has died down......Prison reform, Mandatory Sentencing Relief and Commutations, efforts to drop the Rockefeller Drug laws are all things that affect the black community that Obama has address. Maybe he has not gone far enough but a least he has started.

I understan Obama has done some good for blacks as you mention him reform sentences for blacks I just wish he would fight harder for us as he does the gays we out here dying and he rather go to Africa to push for gay rights instead of focusing on the poor blacks in Africa and how to improve conditions for blacks abroad I just feel that he should do more for the black struggle.
