how much do they pay these mothafukkas per season?? it's crazy that they are still milking this shyt...even after that loser, Mike, went to jail and all.

Paulie D's been getting checks for a decade off of being a straight half-retarded meathead...whether on TV or DJing...it's crazy!

They along with the dude from Ridiculousness are probably taking up 90% of MTVs budget and that’s being generous.

They are in desperate need of a new hit show. I don’t know why they just don’t work it out with Nick Cannon and bring Wild N’ Out back. It’s not like they have anything else on the network to replace it with one moves the needle like that.

Bringing back Wild N' Out wouldn't be new though. That's still a retread.

Seems like all the recent MTV presidents make a commitment towards bringing back more music programming to the channel and yet, the results don't show. Eight hours of either Ridiculousness, Teen Mom, or flabby Jersey Shore each day.

I thought this was new :mjlol:. I was about to say "How? All I see is commercials for this and the other show with Vinny and Paulie. Like seriously that Ridiculousness and The Challenge is MTVs entire programming block."

It’d be a retread, but it was the only show on the network still moving the needle like that. Everything else on the network (including VH1) is all tired and played out and should have been cancelled years ago (looking at you Teen Mom). Bring it back while looking for the next hit show to help salvage the network.

I wish they would put more money and effort into making the scripted thing work years back, but they defaulted back to reality TV once they didn’t get results.

Felt like they had a variety of reality shows that balanced the schedule out in the late 2000s. I'm greeted with either a commercial break or Rob Dyrdek's face anytime I try watching MTV now. Just heartbreaking.

That moment when you realize it's not a Ridiculousness marathon that's on, but rather MTV's sad state of programming being showcased. They really don't know what to do.:mjcry:

......do they still have music? Does AMTV still come on in the mornings? Did Vevo really finesse these dudes? :picard: I'm :dead:at how they tried reviving TRL. It reminded me of that brand new toy store we all probably wandered into at the mall when we were little.....yeah it has some toys, they tried it, but it's just soulless as fukk. I don't know whose idea it was to have the live audience hardly in the camera but :heh:. You would think they taped the eps during the pandemic if you saw how lifeless it looked.

Seemed like they stop trying on the music front after that castastrophe.

The craziest part about it is that CMT (another Viacom station) still shows music videos daily and has a video countdown every weekend, so I don't know why MTV and VH1 felt like they had to move away from it altogether. At least try and pretend that you still care about showing music lol.

I honestly think that CBS only did the re-merger with Viacom because they needed the content library for their All Access streaming service and want no part of current MTV. Neither one of them really had a choice in the matter as no one wanted to take on Viacom and add to their services and CBS All Access is DOA outside of Star Trek and live sports if we're being honest.

When I saw they were bringing this shyt back, I laughed. What can MTV do though? You can find a music video on your phone within seconds. Netflix and Hulu probably put out scripted shows that would dust them. I wonder why they haven't cut some of the secondary channels that show music videos all day and just transfer some of that programming to the original channel. I guess they just invest in the shyt that works. Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, The Challenge, Ridiculousness, etc....

I actually had an idea for MTV

Air scripted movies and dramas (which they're planning on doing I think) and simulcast them on the Viacom channels, but have each show themed toward one of the channels (like Paramount or MTV).

Even if they are barely music related, it's still better than Ridiculousness and Jersey Shore.

Viacom had success simulcasting the South Park special (most viewers since 2013), so maybe they should apply that here.

And supplement those with lower production cost music related programming like concert broadcasts (makes sense in the Covid age).
