A show like Married with Children would be problematic today with the jokes that Al would constantly use towards Marcy. You could also use it in the case of shows like All in the Family and others during that time because of the rhetoric they used and called it entertainment.

My issue with someone like Jerry and others is that they're constantly always bytching about how comedy used to be instead of acknowledging how problematic it was and accepting how the world works now.

That right there shows there is a huge problem. Married With Children is a classic. The fact that it couldn’t be made now is an issue.

Al used to be going in on folks daily. :pachaha:

No way you could make In Living Color today.

Fred Sanford woulda been banned and labeled “problematic”.

There is no new gen of movie comedians tbh.

But at the end of the day the whole cancel culture, pc shyt comes from the studios, Netflix hosts Chapelle with no issue to their bottom line, studios are the ones cutting ties with certain individuals or not greenlighting certain shows/movies.

that's pretty rich coming from the dude that failed upward as a terrible 80's/90's comedian into a sitcom. He's more lucky he had Larry David by his side to punch of every premise and joke for that entire run.

The actual thing he should be upset by and would make a whole lot more sense is that sitcoms dont have a chance to grow a following and base the way they did in the 90's. Seinfeld the show didnt pop for the first 4 seasons, but it had the backing of good writing, a staff of execs that wanted it around and it grew an audience organically over the years before it popped fully in season 5. Most shows these days barely get a 10 episode season on Netflix let alone a full 22 episode run. THAT'S the actual thing to get upset about if you're a comedian that wants to see other younger comedians get the chances and shots that you did and to see the sitcom genre flourish and grow new talent.

He might be right about television sitcoms... I mean, I don't know who ever found a show like Seinfeld funny in the first place .... but I digress.

He's crazy if he thinks comedy as a whole is falling off b/c of cancel culture. There are a ton of new and upcoming comedians doing pretty well despite this so-called "wokeness" problem. I mean, maybe the major networks are afraid to touch these comedians, but the people are still going out to see them, and support them on their personal platforms.

It seems like he's talking more about television and movies, not stand-up. When he started mentioning all those old ass shows, I knew he doesn't even go out of his way to find something modern. Jerry seems like he wants to watch his shyt on cable and not look anywhere else for a funny show. He probably knows about Abbott Elementary and that's it.

Also, it doesn't hurt to have people go over a script, not because it's non-PC, but maybe that joke isn't funny.

Yeah, this is sounding like some "Old man yells at cloud" stuff. I feel that if you threw some vulgar and raunchy FX or Netflix comedy at Jerry, he wouldn't like it because it's not clever enough for him.

Above the fray.
Jerry made those comments ahead of yesterday's film premier for Unfrosted and red carpet reunion and hug with "kramer."

Yes, "get over it" and "too sensitive". Keep going for that, brehs.

I’m not offended even though I took some strays.

Chris Rock had a similar joke about America being the uncle who paid your way through college, but he molested you.

Both jokes take shots at victimized groups to make a bigger point about Black Americans conflicted feelings with respect to the United States.
Respect your honesty. To me that kind of humor reveals a level of self hatred. And it's targeted towards a group that he has no fear of offending.

And when other members posted other real life and stage content from him, it's consistent with his brand of humor and what's underneath it.

Jerry Seinfeld always sucked. People in here talking about he's right don't understand that times change. There was probably some time when white comedians were mad they couldn't do racist jokes or something.

Just adapt or get left behind. Luckily for Jerry he's loaded for being carried by Larry David, Julia Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and racist ass Kramer.

Curb >>> Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld ain’t shyt without :ld: the gawd. You look at any of his work and he’s only as funny as his co-star(s), whether it’s on Seinfeld or even Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee :mjlol: Jerry’s stand-up is wack, too :russell: I’ll go as far as calling him a hack. His entire car collection belongs to LD but the GOAT cool with just having a Prius :salute:
fukk Jerry Seinfeld :manny:
