lookin at JD's discography again... he's untouchable with the R&B between Mariah/Usher/Jagged Edge/TLC etc.. but it'd be an odd match up he's so R&B heavy and Puffy got a lot of Biggie/Mase/Lox shyt he can go to whether he actually produced the songs or not he will take credit

Ahh the “puff just did it different” defense. Teddy Riley led the charge in creating rap r&b mashups, diddy jacked that trend that was already emerging to be popular on the east coast.

JD produced the remix of baby baby baby

and miss me with the either way shyt. Y’all are literally arguing that two peers who were developing at the same time, in real time, one was being copied? JD was out here producing, being in videos, writing, remixing and launching a label before puff, they both bit the success of gfunk and styled their 94 sound off it. I mean you’re really trying to credit a 92 puff who was an actual background player at uptown as who JD was styling himself after as the label head of so so def while launching the careers of Kriss Kross?
Puff was producing these things in 91 or 92 whether he had Bad Boy or not. This was before JD was doing what he was doing on the remix tip. Puff had a whole fukking remix album ma'am. Doing actual carbon dating is always cool when it fits the person's narrative tho. Either way. A Verzuz between these 2 wouldve been better than a Verzuz between Puff/Dre. JD fumbled the bag on that and then these ATL nikkas turned it into some coastal war and the energy wouldn't be right if they did it at this point.

copying/biting is copying/biting. Hell you can say RTD and its use of sampling and Biggies persona was a copy of being a East coast Doggystle.
RTD sounded nothing like Doggystyle. Da Brat dressed, rapped, carried herself, and even did the same adlibs as Snoop. There is a CLEAR difference between influence and straight up shark biting. Puff was def influenced. JD was shark biting. There IS a difference. Yall would be the same one's shytting on Desiigner for his Future biting.

Wtf is this JD bit Diddy narrative coming from ?

Is this just some New York nikkas saying this goofy shyt ? :gucci:

Diddy can only play shyt from a 5 year run in a versuz against JD. Nobody is trying to hear none of that other shyt . It would be way closer than nikkas want to admit
:mjlol:

Puff can't win. Cause if he win it will be "NY Bias this NY Bias that". If it's close. JD gonna take the W off default.
If the people watching and the audience is coming from your point of view there's no way Puff is taking an L.

And diddy was not some known entity back then, he wasn’t anywhere near what someone building their own shyt, who had been doing REAL production in 90-91-92 would be modeling themselves after. That’s where it’s a stretch. Basically anyone pursuing the same career as someone else at the same time now means one can claim the other is biting them? And y’all get way too liberal in crediting diddy. He’s got one prediction credit on what’s the 411 and as has already been stayed, diddy is about his paper and knew how to ensure he got credit for the smallest of contributions.

What's the 411 he executive produced. And he did the whole remix album as well. Mary would tell u herself that album wouldn't have been what it was without Puff's direction. And as far as the biting goes. I feel what u sayin. But it's less about the man himself and more about the climate he created. Regardless of where it was coming from. Puff created a climate with those remixes before JD did. And before he himself became a household name.

Nah the way Puff was doin shyt was different and his shyt dated back to Jodeci Come And Talk To Me remix. All them hip hop remixes with rappers on the RnB joints the way Puff did all that shyt was different. Even did a whole hip hop remix album of What's The 411?..Also what did JD do with Baby Baby Baby? Cause he damn sure aint write and produce it. Either way it was still after Jodeci.
I swear y’all pretend Teddy Riley never existed :mjlol:. JD will tell you that was his main influence. He wasn’t thinking about Sean combs at the time:mjlol:
