Of course the ATL
There is no doubt Jermaine was always more musically talented but clearly he was a fan of Puff’s talent otherwise he wouldn’t have been trying to be him all these years. Jermaine never presented like a Atlanta nikka…more like let’s recreate what the New York nikkax are doing down here type of guy

Complete lies :camby:

Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def All Stars compilation put numerous local artists on the scene that you out of towners have no idea about (Playa Poncho, Raheem the Dream, MC Shy D) and he put on a bunch of local artists who became household names (Mr. Collipark, Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, Usher, etc)

Y’all keep tryna lil bro JD like he doesn’t get busy on the boards and with the pen. Puff and JDs catalogues are at worst a draw and I can see JD winning it straight up no matter how many Biggie records Puff plays

Now talent wise JD has more physical talent than Diddy. But Diddy is in a weird space. He's not completely hands off like a Clive Davis. He's WAY more involved with the music making process. But he's not completely hands on either. But he damn sure don't just let a nikka make some shyt. Then drop his name on it. He's in the studio right with them telling them what he needs or what the track needs. shyt. Dre is similar but he's more hands on than Diddy of course. But Dre will straight up mix a beat and get the production credit. lol. Like I said. Puff is in a weird space.

I wanna hear more about this, what was Clive Davis's style of producing and where did you learn about this?

The idiocy on this board in regard to production needs to stop. READ:

^^^^ now that the proof is laid out, let's dispel some myths:

1) If Puffy steals credit, please explain why others are credited alongside him?

2) If Puffy steals credit, how come his name isn't on some of the other songs specifically Easy Mo Bee's work?

Raheem The Dream nof Shy D were put on by JD though. These artists were big locally before Jermaine Dupri were putting them on compilations.

I take it you disagree. I’m interested to know which part. Kanye taking his MPC everywhere? Him being a ghost producer for Dot? him being able to create music by himself? I mean, all of this stuff is easily verifiable

I'm waiting for the genius

No other producer is considered a genius. If Kanye is a genius then what is Marley Marl? :lolbron:

Right that’s my point he was giving artists an opportunity on a bigger platform through his compilations. JD has literally worked with every generation of ATL hip hop for 30 years…he’s got RECORDS for anything Puff has

That’s great. My point still remains that Jermaine is responsible for how nikkax see Jermaine.

Some of those artists weren't put on by him though.

Being from GA and knowing JD's history and being familiar with Puff's catalog, a lot of these songs, JD won't have an answer for. I still remember the presence Bad Boy had in ATL. Those Biggie records are going to give JD trouble. Even if JD goes into R&B, there's a lot of choices from Puff which would include 112, Total, Faith, and Mary and even Mariah songs. JD plays Brat, Puff has a couple of Kim songs including "No Time". Like I said before, JD and Puff have MC Lyte songs on the same album.
