Its the Sergio Leone influence. especially the opening act. QT stay jocking the classics, its his calling card.

I can see the opening act as a western influence. Now that I'm replaying the scene in my head it actually makes me think of Unforgiven for some reason.

And paying homage is something he only does plus he still structures an original story so it's really a non-issue.
As a movie fan I enjoy it and discover new films from it sometimes.
The Captain America Winter Soldier is basically a super hero version of 3 Days of the Condor which the scriptwriters have no problem admitting to

when you can easily name the many influences to a directors work they aren't called greats. But just for arguement sake who did Hitchcock,Paul thomas Anderson or Spielberg bite off :mjpls:

i'm watching Indiana Jones and the last Crusade as I type

the scene when indy and the dad are in the car and the nazi copter is chasing them was even more reminiscent of north by northwest..made me think of this discussion
