I wonder if that is why he turned down the rehab offer, because he knows that he can't do the WWE schedule anymore so he just wanted the clean break.
  • I think Jeff knows he is relapsing, and really isn't in a great place (not suicidal, but just he can feel it.)
  • I think WWE understands he needs help, but while rehab is great for him... he also would come back to WWE... and back on the road; which, IMO, Jeff shouldn't be doing at that age; he has priorities and really he is away from his family along with Matt.
  • I think its best for Jeff to just get away from WWE. I don't have issues with WWE, but, Jeff isn't meant for that life of pro wrestling, it's more for the younger wrestlers who don't have more late-life priorities; who can handle the workload.
Overall it's non-violent, but toxic relationship with Jeff and WWE. It's like a couple that had great times but as time went on, they began to drift apart in what they need and now it's time to say goodbye despite continuing to come back; just to try it again, and restart the relationship.

Continuing this would ultimately kill Jeff, because while I think he can still go at it... WWE's lifestyle cannot be good for his health, at his age... along with his past substance abuse.

I think Jeff should hang it up for good tho. Thank you for all the incredible matches and moments you gave is… spend time with your family while you’re still able to walk.

I remember an article from a few years back, before the Hardy Boyz returned at ‘Mania, on Jeff Hardy wrestling at one of Insane Clown Posse’s “Gathering of the Juggalos” fests. You know, it was chronicling Jeff doing that type of event miles past the bright lights of the ‘E. It made note of Jeff’s physical condition at the time. Definitely banged up, but when it was time to “Go” in the ring it was nothing.

44 is still young, he’s put his body through so much…he’s beloved and his name is big enough, to where he can make Plenty of money as a brand and not have to take any more bumps. Spend more time with the family. It’s not our place to say as fans but man retirement at this stage would Not be a bad idea!

I wouldn't be surprised if alcohol/drugs are just being used as a coping mechanism with how beat up his body is from all the crazy bumps he's taken over the years. I really hope he gets better, physically & mentally.
He also seems to self sabotage when he's in the middle of a bigger push. It could be the increased schedule which leads to more bumps and pain. Or just the pressure overall of increased workload/responsibilities. But, he needs to take time off and get right for himself and family.

Shame how long hes been battling this and how quickly it can all fall apart. Matt just expressed how proud he was of his brother. Crazy.

Hope he hasn't relapsed but if so I can only hope that eventually he truly wants the help he needs.

True but they offered him rehab and he refused so something is clearly up.
The people saying he faked a relapse just so he could get released and join Matt in AEW don't realize how bad that would make him look. There were reports of him showing up to signings drunk, so I believe he just became overwhelmed with an upcoming push and started using/drinking again.

I think there’s definitely something to that, every time he was in a prominent position, he’d relapse:
  • 2003 during what was supposed to be a big solo push his issues got bad and he ended up getting released after refusing rehab
  • 2007 was the same story and he ended up with his first wellness strike
  • Again in 2008 when he was scheduled to win MITB at Wrestlemania
  • Immediately after leaving WWE in 2009 when he was one of the top stars in the company and in the biggest storyline at the time
  • 2011 after being a top guy and TNA champ for months, Victory Road happens
  • The DUI in 2019
And I think he was in line for one last big run prior to this so I think it’s every time he’s put in a big spot the pressure gets to him and he cracks

Where are these reports?

His health is the most important thing so I don't want to see him on with any company until he's clean

But when he does get clean I'd like to see him on Impact vs. Moose,it would be a good look for Moose to have a victory over a legend like him :wow:

Sad to hear, sometimes ppl just cant defeat the addiction. I hope he gets the help and does though. That type of work environment can be easily triggering.

I bet he kept trying to pitch the idea of bringing the Willow character into WWE and they kept shutting his ideas down which led him down this path.
:francis:

Here’s hoping the best to him. He’ll more than likely end up in AEW in a few months.

Sad he never got a chance towards another title run which is all he wanted during this last run with the E. :mjcry:
