I was 15 when I heard this the first time, I did not catch that line, and I believe I read it online, a year or maybe 2 later. Ennis Cosby was in 1997, I wouldn't have known about that, from the news coverage, besides Colombine, Biggie and Pac, Chris Farley, OJ, I don't remember following the news closely until I was at least 17 or so. If you or your family were big Bill Cosby fans, maybe you would have known, but this definitely went over my head. I figured Ennis was someone rich or from his circle. I had other interpretations too, that were off from all sorts of songs, we all did, it's part of really learning and loving the music. You don't listen to shyt like Jay-Z 'A Week Ago', or Nas 'Ny State of Mind II' and get it exact on first listen, if you were 13-14 at the time…it comes with age.

Let's just say my definition for "digging in lyrically" is different than yours...Because if the Ennis line is one of your examples of his depth then I just don't see it like that...Which is probably why I don't think he's as great as a lot of other people do..I realize my opinion is in the minority, so do with that what you wish...

The line is deeper than just a casual reference to Ennis but keep acting like its nothing and that you are smart. No one likes the good for nothing dumb people that have infested this board fronting like they are on some other level.
