1 - I actually know someone named ennis and I've never heard anyone white or black call him eeness...he's white if it matters

2 - dog jay says he would get jealous anytime somebody mentioned ennis....obviously he was talking about ennis being mentioned prior to his death...why would jay be jealous of a dead guy:ufdup:(this is strike 1 for you)

3 - yes ennis was rich but that dont mean he was living adventurous...dude could have been a lame....drug dealer jay from marcy could have had a more fulfilling life than ennis...bill could have been a stingy motherfukker for all we know (one of my weaker points but still a valid one :skip:)

4 - if you didn't catch the bar where jay said "knowing I can go just switching the spare" than I know you lying about knowing who jay was talking about!!!!!!!!!:ufdup: (strike 2)

verdict: you CERTAINLY BEYOND ANY REASONABLE DOUBT did not know who jay was talking about. case closed. :myman:

1. well yea, dude being white pretty much explains it. so yea, it does matter.

2. you have the line wrong. he said 'anytime a name LIKE ennis was mentioned".

3. from the viewpoint of someone living in the projects, of course a rich kid's life is gonna be viewed as adventurous. just having your own car and driving it on the highway at 17 or whatever is something that could be seen as an adventure, especially in the eyes of kids who dont have much.

4. i didnt say that i didnt catch the bar. i said i dont remember the bar. matter fact, the ennis line is one of the only parts that i remember from that song period. havnt heard it in ages.

verdict: im not the one thats on trial here bucko. you put yourself on trial because you feel guilty about the line going over your head, i guess.

breh the first time i ever heard anybody mention ennis cosby name was here, i only researched the bar cause i thought he was talking about some big time drug dealer also, and never in person or on the news mention ennis cosby, i didnt even know bill had a son until this song, im 23 btw

the bolded pretty much explains it breh.

it was all over the news.

he doesn't hit you with a thousand multis and his references are never obvious, so it's easy for the typical rappity rap hip hop head to miss it

Agreed, but how often does he geniunely care? Reasonable Doubt was the only album he had that I felt he was 100% frank with the audience. Jay is an incredible lyricist, but I think him going with the current trends in all of his albums really hurt his music. While he's the most popular hip hop artist alive right now, as time passes, I don't think people will have as favorable a opinion of his music--in other words, his catalogue will not age well, regardless of how truly talented of an emcee he is.

Dynasty Intro is one of the few times he's hit Reasonable Doubt levels of lyricism since Vol 2.

It's up there with D'Evils and Dead Presidents for my money.

Shame he had to double up them dollars :skip:
