Word, dont really understand why this forum puts this album on such a pedastall. It def. aint seeing those 3 albums at all.

the only song I can really bump is blue magic...

I hate to use the word overrated because I think people use it too much but........have you noticed that people RARELY say which songs on AG they would call classics or near classics?

They just usually bring up "AG" as a classic by Jay or near classic but very rarely even mention certain songs saying why.....

I have a feeling people are gonna start the same thing in a couple years with game's Red Album....

Exactly, there is no unquestionable classic song on that lp. There arguement can be easily made for songs on the other three albums and even some on other joints. But that lp, nahh. When I pull out that folder Im bumping Roc Boys, I know (If Im hittin the club), and Say Hello and im KIM to tha next album.

EHHH!! This album is overrated to me, it's good but it's missing an something. Blue Magic is trash and Success is a bland collabo. Hello Brooklyn and Fallin it could do without.
The Black Album is the only Jay-Z album that I love. It was the most cohesive, and probably his most personable. But Jay-Z is right..those are his 3 best albums and with AG, the only albums people really mention by him.

:rudy: @ your opinion and inner circle.

Lyrically, The Black Album might be Jays best. It spawned a lot of the quotes and catchphrases that people associate with Jay, chopping his voice on the hook etc.

Not to mention, all of the remixes of that album were influential on the careers of A LOT of up-n-comers

Of course, RD and BP1 are the other 2.

American Gangster had a lil concept and throwback sound, but lyrically, he was still doing the soft, whiny thing from Kingdom Come on most tracks, and just using the concept as creative license to blatantly brag about hustling again

lol @ agreeing/disagreeing with his own opinion

his opinion is based on his own experiences and what he went through to create that album. ya'll opinions are based on the 60 minutes of the final product you hear

lyrically technically reasonble doubt was his best the metaphors people still haven't caught on too so imo rd is his best.
